What is your preferred method of installed lift service?

i used to ski at a place in jersey called belle mt when i was in high school back in the 80's and they had an absolutely vicious rope tow...they also had a double chair but the tow was faster so we took that...one hand in front, one in back, poles tucked in and you'd have to adjust your grip slowly to grab it or go flying face first...it was great watching people learn to use it...i took a few spills learning myself...his thing was a real glove shredder, so much so that you'd buy a cheap pair just for this lift

I've worn out many pairs of gloves on rope tows in my youth. I started skiing in 1960 & for the most part rope tows were the only lifts available with the exception of a few t-bars, j-bars & poma's. Yes Stowe & MRG had chairs but that was the exception not the rule. Even Okemo was all poma lifts with the exception of the original Sachem double chair. The Green Monster poma at Okemo earned it's name. The thing used to launch you forward 100ft. in the air after the attendant pulled the cord...lol

of coarse it did, to many witnesses, that escapade made that lift my all time favorite, so entertaining!!:-D
