I'm actually fairly happy with my Comcrap service. I have their Digital cable with HD bundled with Broadband internet. Its pretty pricey, but the service overall isn't too bad.
I used to have Dish Network, but our southern exposure isn't the greatest. It got to the point where I couldn't watch any TV unless it was a Bluebird day.

Ironically, I work for at&t. Stay away from their HomeZone, U-Verse or whatever the hell it is offer. Its FULL of bugs.

I been thinking of switching to Verizons Fois service as its speed is incredible and they have the full package in my area now...tv, internet, and phone... I think its about $50/month savings over my current phone/internet/tv setup.

We get about 15 channels with rabbitt ears on top of the set. Cable is not available here, not profitable enough for them to run the wire! No DSL either - dail-up....

I'm a retro grouch. No cable or satellite for me. I'd just wear out my finger flicking the channels.
On good 'ole rabbit ears in Boston, I can pull in good reception on most that I'd really watch which is public TV's two channels and the network news.
Everything else is just crap, well, almost. When I get the a chance to flip through cable, I do like the History Chanel and Discovery, but I can definitely live without this.

For movies,a DVD player combined with Netflix and Blockbuster takes care of the ocassional thirst for movies.

PBS rules! I live on the first "Mountain" due west from manhatten...while there are some shows I'd like, history, a&e, espn, I can do without them...

I think I'm gonna start a club

Good reason to head to the pub when a game is on I want to catch

My televisons are HDTV and with the attic mounted antenna, I get 19 HDTV channels. I do receive the 5 PBS channels and The Tube music video channel. And the best part about this is it is FREE and the wind, rain, sun or snow does not affect the signal!

I just got off of the phone with Dish Network this afternoon. My ComCrap bill is a bout $100, just for t.v. hd, dvr, hobo.

I can get the same set up with them for about $70. Calling them back by the end of the week to switch over. I can't deal with Comcrap, Verizon, etc... I figure to cruise the www, talk on cell phones and watch t.v. it is over $300/month. It is getting rediculous. All of the companies get you by the short and curlies and there is nothing you can do. I am going to pay the set up fee with dish so that I don't have a contract. Verizon Wireless is the worst, I have 3 phones, 2100 minutes, data plan blah, blah. Went to cancel phones because of being charged for Canandian roaming, there is no fcc there and their signals come over the border and I pick them up at Jay. They wanted $175/phone to cancel.

Careful... Dish Network is owned by at&t. The worst of the lot.

Crappy thing about Comcrap's broadband is they block all incoming requests on all ports. So forget about running a server, forget about remote desktop, forget about ssh, telnet, all is blocked.

I have Charter, and they're alright I guess, besides from their rediculous method of scheduling service visits.

I used rabbit ears up until 911, then I had no choice. A few years later when I wanted to go back to rabbit ears, the wife wouldn't let me. She didn't want to get stuck holding the attenae as I sat on the couch barking directions on which way she should hold them. Women nowadays, all spoiled! :-?

Verizon FIOS. (BTW , Optimum is Cablevision not Verizon)
Is that service all digital like Dish and DirecTV?

One thing that turns me off of Comcast Digital is that some of the channels are still analog...would really look crappy on a 50" LCD projection TV.

I'm not really sure, my guess is yes.

broadbandreports.com has some great forums to answer those sorts of questions.
