Am putting together a two night sunday-tues group trip. Dead/non-holiday week. Had planned to stay at the Mountain Club, but they are big $ compared to others on line.

Need lodging that will work with me, and can give me a per-person rate, so people can make a go/no go decision. This is a "singles" group, so each person needs their own bed.

Am looking for your input. Would hope to have transport to the mountian. On site, or nearby restaurant/tavern is part of the mix.

Woodwards Motor Inn is nice. Discounts on lift tickets to Cannon/Loon/Brentonwoods and a restraunt that has a good breakfast. I've stayed at the Kangamangus Motor Lodge for cheap, also with a break on lift tickets. I think Parker's Motel is probably has the cheapest package deals.

Parkers is no frills, but great people and cheap. Took one of my kids there for their 5th birthday and we skied loon. We left elmo there. They called us and shipped it to us. Never will forget that. Good people.

Found some condo's, but i guess one of my hopes is that a unit owner of a week including 2/7 wants to rent out directly

Indian Head is NOT cheap. Has amenities, but you PAY for it. Also much closer to Cannon than Loon.

If you want food nearby, you'll have to stay in town in the North Woodstock/Lincoln area. Woodstock Inn actually includes breakfast, but it's also not cheapo. Loon condos.... probably pricey. There's a timeshare near there across from Loon owned by Westgate. Maybe you can work out something with them? :)

I stayed at the Inn Season South Mountain a couple years ago. Place was like brand new and it was very reasonable for March when I stayed(booked a ski and stay online somewhere) They have an indoor and outdoor pool and it is connected to the old mill so you can walk to a handful of restaurants.

I like Parkers. As bobr said it's no frills but clean, good location, and very affordable.

I'm a big fan of Tanner's Pub North...

Unfortunately for you, that's my girlfriend's aunt's house in Lincoln... she leaves the room for us so we can come up whenever we want...

Sorry I'm not of more help.

Love your beach on Rt 1A NH Seacoast thou......

Thanks... never been... but the person I'm sitting next to at the moment, has told me the first time she ever got drunk was at 'my' beach...

I am a direct descendant of the Jenness family that founded Rye, NH back in the day.

Also, kind of cool to have NH seacoast named after the family... Given that there is so little of it.

Yes, given the scant 17 miles of coastline. However, I think there are more miles of road adjacent to the ocean, than the the totals of all of Cape Cod !

During the summer, I ride that road on the MC daily !

Thanks for the idea's so far. Am sitting on the trip right now, as Cannon just announced a special for Superbowl Sunday ( our trip date) and I'm waiting to see who will else will recognize that it's Monty Hall day !

Would appreciate a post on anything you hear/see.

Did you look at pricing for The Beacon Resort? I know that they have ski-and-stay packages, but sometimes you have to pry the info outta the person who answers the phone. Also they often have a "kids eat free" special. The pools are awesome and the food is good. They have suites available.

Kanc Motor Lodge is also very nice and not too pricey. For nightlife (such as it is) the Woodstock Station often has good bands and the Bunyan Room at Loon has a bunch of fun people who hang out on a Saturday night.

As far as "closer to Cannon than to Loon," anyplace in that valley (Lincoln-Woodstock) is convenient to both mountains.

Indian Head is closer to Loon than to Cannon

To Cannon (Peabody Slopes): 7.5 miles
To Cannon (Tramway) 6.5 miles
To Loon: 6 miles

The Kancamagus Motor Lodge has a great reputation for value. They have an indoor pool a restaurant and a bar. Its also the closest motel to Loon and right across the street from the Common Man Restaurant.

Another bonus might be The Kanc Rec. Rope Tow just a quarter mile from the Motor Lodge up the road to the Forest Ridge Condos. This local ski slope is open Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights till 9pm. Tuesdays are adult ski nights and for $7 you get skiing from 7 to 9pm plus a home cooked meal.

It's straight highway to Cannon; go through town for Loon. Mileage may be "closer" to Loon, but it's not faster. You have traffic and lights to deal with. Whereas Indian Head is right at the start of the "highway" portion leading to Cannon, so there's no traffic lights. Only stop is at the exit.

Oh, man. Stay anywhere in Lincoln/Woodstock and you're convenient to both. Unless it's Columbus day weekend, the traffic and lights are completely a non-issue.

The Loon/Cannon debate should be more about what kind of mountain you like to ski. If you like groomers, go to Loon. If you're a real man, go to Cannon...and hike to Mittersill. ; - )

See post above for recommendation for the Kancamagus Motor Lodge that echoed my post. Great people, great food, great location.

Proximity is good at all these areas. You will be to either mountain within 15 minutes no matter where you stay.

And Bretton Woods is only a half hour or so away as well...in case you're in the mood for some reeeeealll groomers...!

(It's actually not a bad place to go on a busy weekend. They do a great job of keeping the crowds moving, and if you've got young kids it's awesome. : - )
