Kind of stealing the idea from the post "Mountain Improvements Summer '07" thread.

My wishlist:

Okemo - Cut some glades. Double Diamond has been around 20+ years, but they really need to open up some real tree skiing beyond the very few they have.

Sugarloaf - Upgrade your lifts. Hopefully if a sale is made, the negelcted lift system could be sped up.

Ragged MT. - Get sold. Put it in the hands of someone who will run it correctly. The location is prime, terrain decent and should be able to capitalize on those factors...

Ideas, people?

Armchair Mountain Operations. I love it!

Ski Sundown - More terrain, specifically cut a dedicated trail for the terrain park and make Stinger the dedicated bump run. Alternatively, I would accept a newly cut narrow trail right down the fall line left of Gunny with dedicated top to bottom seeded bumps.

Sunapee: Upgrade the Sunbowl quad, but don't touch the north peak tripple.

Blue Hills: Get a new operator. Bigger snowmaking pond and tarps to cover the main slopes during Jan rains.

I know they're smaller mountain, but some of us end up going out 3 times a week on them because they're local.

Crotched Mountain: Extend the main lift up to the summit, and finally get to 1050' vertical. Surface lift is a good start, which is what they have planned, but just going direct to the summit would be the best. Also, clear out some of the trees in between Galaxy and 'the new trail' and make some decent tree sking.

Pats Peak: Put some of guns like the big ones on Hurricane in other places. Open earlier, stay open later.

Actually, there is one improvement that I'd LOVE to see at more mountains, that really applies to many mountains.

Light up your trails, and let's get some night skiing going on!

This especially applies to Magic/Stratton/Bromley (just one need do it).

Vermont taxes each lift extra that runs at night, but I don't know what the current base rate per linear foot is.

Fiction; I would like to see the ridge line above the slides covered with sno guns and just blast them from the time it gets cold until there is 20 feet of snow in there. I would also like the ridge line covered with wind turbines. enough to power the entire resort with renewable energy.

Upgrade external audio systems- can never hear what they're announcing. If I had kids and lost one I'd be right upset if all I heard over the intercom was "######################################################"

Really? I can't find any reference to night lift taxes in vermont online. Is it ANY lift is taxed?

what a great idea MRG! lets spend money on upgrades to the external audio systems..certainly it shouldnt be your responsibilty to actually watch your kids. you should be upset if you lost one. and you should sue if you cant hear the audio system. after that, i think that, i think another great mountain improvement would be to paint lines in the parking lot, i absolutely HATE when people park too close to my car!

Given the tragedy at VT yesterday, I think adequate warning/communication systems are something that should never be skimped on, regardless of the venue. So take your sarcasm and shove it.

You silly goose, you compared losing a loved one to someone parking to close to your car.

I stand by my statement that effective communication equipment is necessary.
