What the Hell is that

Me, my brother and my dad saw this strange light in the sky. From the south shore of nassau county, ny, it appeared in the south-south west sky at approximately 30-35 degrees from the horizon.

For starters, it is not a plane or anything man made.

I first spotted it around 10:50. By 11:05 it appeared to be about "two feet" west of it's first location. The light appeared as an alternating red and white, although occasionally also switches to a blue, red and yellow. From 11:05 to 11:53 it did not move. Initially it appeared to be approaching, then later appeared to be leaving. At first it almost appeared to be a sci-fi style dog fight at extreme distance

Through the binoculars is had a yellow hue which went away after it headed away for a while. Additionally, it appeared with some "meteorite" type phenomenon which appeared to origenate from the light.

We called some random UFO society (which was the closest thing to an expert which would pick up the phone) and he said it was jupiter. After checking a star chart, the light seems to be to far south to be jupitor. It was located more inside the constellation libra.

Anyone else see this thing, what the hell was that?

Sorry about that- had the saucer out for a little joyride yesterday. I keep forgetting to turn the cloaking device on. My bad.

Seriously, though, it was probably either a planet or a sattelite. Or possibly a North Korean missile.

I'm pretty sure Captain Kirk was fighting the Klingons over that way last night...

Just occured to me that it could have been the Shuttle. It would probably ahve been maneuvering right around then to line up its return.

cute responces. No, it was not a satellite or space craft of any kind. Was not moving fast enough to be ISS, Discovery or any other visible man made satellite. Due to the fact that it was moving, it also could not be a geo-sychronous satellite.

It WAS NOT jupiter, it is no longer in the sky tonight.

Besides taking some huge giant leap to a conclusion, my only thought is that I saw a distant supernova or similar stellar phenomena.

marc, shrooms are out of season!

wasn't a blimp, being there seemed to be some meteorite activity that night, perhaps it was a nearby comet.
