I need suggestions for a soundtrack to a skiing movie thats is currently in production. A bunch of friends and I are getting together for the Superbowl and instead of watching the lame halftime show, we put together an awesome video we want to show. We already made a trailer (HERE {i know i wrote Superbowl LX instead of XL}).

So I'm looking for a song or two. (prefferably instrumental)

We want this to be a rockin movie. I have made some movies with classical music and opera-and they were cool- but for this movie we want to rock out.

What are some good songs to use? Something with alot of dynamics.

Well....

...my playlist in I-Tunes has a measly 11,000 songs or so (Um...I've been loading since 1997 in one digital music jukebox or another).....so perhaps some rocking electronica that is great background type stuff that you can just play all day.

I'm trying to avoid typical and obvious staples of pop....

West Indian Girl "Still Lost" (not instrumental, but voices used like another instrument)

And how about stealing a classic from Stumpy (huge powder day Telluride section)..... "Jah Houphouet" by Alpha Blondy.

Anyways, just a couple of thoughts.

I'll have to go to the car and grab this CD...Queens of the Stoneage, Songs for the Deaf, first track...very long song title, rock-out song (skip the faux-radio intro). No, not an instrumentla...but give it a shot and see if it doesn't jump-start your video.

I like MSP's recent habit of using classic rock for their intros. Favorites from the last couple of years include Tom Sawyer (by someone covering Rush) and Barracuda by Heart.

If you're looking for current music, two songs I'd recommend are LCD Soundsystem's "Daft Punk is playing at my House" and the song "Clamor for Glamour" by The Ark.

Props for the helis on Tele skis, but if you guys could bring yourself a little more forward on the jumps, you could style out those spins with some grabs. Still cool, though, and it'll definitely be better than the Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin.

Assuming this is for personal use, YYZ by Rush would be a great choice.
Also, Call of Ktulu by Metallica.

Beware of Copyright laws.

Good call... hmmm would it be an infringement to use a copyrighted song as background for skiing footage, and then at the begining/end cite the source? My audience will be like 20 poeple.

Yep. Whether in whole or in part. However, although the law is "Public or private use" if you're just making a vid that you have no intention of selling, and are just watching with a few friends.... there usually aren't too many problems.

Exactly what I plan on doing. I don't think anyone would buy it anyway hahaha
