was a portion of blueberry patch closed? That's a green run from the 6 pack that runs right into Easy Winder

Where Blueberry Patch takes the hard left, and I assume you would go straight to Easy Winder, there was a very steep drop labeled 'Advanced Skiers Only'. There were several crests at the bottom of the drop and my 7 year old wanted no part of the drop. Up ahead of the drop there was another sign that I couldn't read. We saw two snow boarders attempt to get over there from Blueberry, there was a part you almost had to hike. I was stumped.

gotcha. only skied that trail once and it was last season. The very flat bottom section I remember, the top steep area I do not. I actually had a similar experience at Stowe with my friend and his five year old this weekend. We hadn't skied together in years and were taking what we thought was an easy run for his son, but it was tough for him. Sometimes as adults its tough to see skiing through 7 year old eyes.

I'll second the recommendation on Sunapee's beginner complex. You'll deal with more crowds, but it's great beginner terrain. Ragged has the Barnyard, which is about it.

flatlands of Mass.
Is it just me, or is Village Green a bit on the steep side for a green? Not that it's steep, just that it's a bit steep for a green.

From the looks of it, if I had a choice between sunapee or BW, I would consider BW. If your son have out skied pats peak, the beginner section at sunapee seem to be the same size as pats peak. Getting to the greens at the bigger section, you would have to navigate thru crowds. Thats something to consider if your son gets spooked from skiers and riders getting too close.

BW has long lengthy green trails and easy acess to them. IMO having a long trail with constant pitch is good training for him to control his speed.

Couldn't agree more, that is really what I should have been asking from the beginning. It's been a long time since I skied BW but I remember those trails. This past time out I just wanted to establish he could put in a full 8:30-4 day of skiing and he passed with flying colors.

Just seeing this thread and a little surprised nobody's mentioned Crotched. Only ~30 miles from Nashua, vertical roughly between Pat's and Ragged, good assortment of blues and a couple low-level blacks, and 100% lit for night skiing.

Think it wasn't mentioned because it's about the same size as Pats Peak...although I'd also agree that it's a good alternative.
