Im trying to get all of your info on which southern vermont mountains this time of year will be the least crowded on a saturday? Im planning on doing a day trip up there next weekend, had to cancel today due to the storm and i dont have time to stay over so i can only make it to southern Vt. Just in general which mountain is the least crowded? I know for instance MT snow is crowded but not necessarily on the north face, im just looking for an answer in general for the whole mountain??? Thx, STeve.

How is the terrain at magic, im more of an intermediate that can do a few blacks here and there and my sister is more of a beginner/intermediate,long cruisers with few bumps would be best right now for us.

hmmmm, magic does have groomers and have really stepped up their groomer action this year. skier's right of magic is almost all groomers. only wizard only skier's left is consistantly groomed. you'd have half the hill to yourself though, lol.

perhaps consider ascutney? i have never been there, but that is more central vermont than southern. if you live in CT, it's straight up 91 and may even be the same distance or closer than the magic/bromley/stratton valley.

your other options include stratton which will have what you're looking for but is VERY expensive. i don't know what the crowds are like. bromley has some decent beginner/intermediate terrain, it's a great mountain to learn on i think. crowds could go either way. then mount snow and okemo, obviously over crowded to the max.

Don't forget Haystack. And they're only open on weekends, so if it dumps during the week, Saturday is a pow day.

For uncrowded, Magic, hands down.

Haystack probably is thinning out, crowd-wise, at this late in the season, but you have to wonder when ASC will pull the plug for the season. Ascutney is a good option, also.

Of course I'm biased, but at least I'll admitt it. Visit Magic.

Magic has a single ride ticket for $10 so you could try a run and decide. If you like what you skied, they will apply the $10 to a regular ticket.

I totally didnt even think of bromley. The sun makes the condtions there awsome. I love coming down the main trail under the high speed lift when the sun is out in march. Also, ive never seen a line at bromley.

Haystack is closed for the season. Perhaps forever.

Ascutney is a great intermediate's mountain, though it is lacking in apres-ski, if that's you're thing. I've never seen it crowded. Definitely low-stress and low(er) price.
