A good article i saw today on liftopia, granted population density has a little to do with it but i feel people from the east coast will ski in anything and are not as picky as say our western counterparts and thats why Vermont is the winner.. I also found it fascinating in a different article that vermont as a state has more skier visits than Utah, that blows my mind, only Ca and CO have more during the year.. Heres the article

Yes, population density and the driving distance to a resort. The fact that we live in crowded tiny little states skews the results in our favor.

Funny, how CT is higher than NY or MA. And NY has the most ski areas of any state.
