Just a silly thought...what happens when the P2P craps out halfway across at 1400 ft. above the valley floor? Fun rescue, eh?

The span over Fitzsimmons creek would be evacuated by independent evac-drives located on the two towers adjacent to the span. The evacuees would be brought back up the track ropes to the closest tower. Most evac systems like this use a special evacuation cabin to reach the stranded cabins but I don't know exactly how the Peak to Peak's works. Evacuation from the spans above ski areas could be accomplished by ropes. They've been practicing evacuation lately.

The peak to peak lift doesn't go high enough to wow the tourons in the summer.

I've seen some pictures on W/B's website that indicate the views up and down Fitzsimmons Creek from 1400' above the valley are incredible. I couldn't insert the most impressive picture but this one is good.

Location
where its snowing
Necessary? No? Convenient? Yes...

One only has to ski there to understand how warm, sticky and unfun the lower mountain can be at times. This can keep you up top where the good skiing is.

Or if theres no snow in the valley to get across....
Lets hope the world stays cold enough....

This lift will save lots of time IF you want to go from mid Whistler to mid Blackcomb. Most of the best skiing at both mountains is from mid mt and up.If you look at a trail map the mts actually appear upside down compared to most ski areas in that the terrain spreads out more near the top and closes in on the bottom.W/B has serious elevation change and the snow can be wet/rain crap at the lower elevations and stellar up high. The base area while convient to both mts can be a real zoo.The last few times I skied there we would take the early ride up Whistler to the roundhouse for the buffet to beat the crowds. To go back to ski Blackcombs upper mt would take a minimum of an hour.I for one think this lift serves a great puropse.
