Skied with my brother's kids in the learning area for a while, so didn't get out on the full mountain, really. Just did a run down Wilmington. Not nearly as crowded overall as one would expect, symptom of the season, I suppose.

Conditions at the top were pretty good, as it had been snowing off and on for a few days so there was some real snow mixed in holding things together. Mid mountain was a bit icy, and the lower third was very loose granular on boilerplate. It was obvious to me that I hadn't cleaned up my edges after the skis sat in the basement all year.

Lake Placid is, not surprisingly, a great town. Plenty to do with or without kids, well worth the 5.5 hour drive from CT for a long weekend.

Overall, I think I could really dig Whiteface, given the time to actually ski it.

When you catch it right, great mountain.
