Whiteface 3-10 and 3-11...

Just returned from WF and figured that I'd post a TR and show the Face some love here on AZ...

Day 1..

We pulled up to the mt around 8:20 to a clear sky and bright sunshine which remained throughout the day. The snow was a packed powder surface in the morning but loosened up as the day went on. We took our first run off of the gondola...excelsior to past the mid station to the bottom. We flew down as the snow was perfect for speed early on. We then hit the summit...skyward to switchback to lower cloudspin (Niagara?) which included a number of rocks that we needed to dodge. After a leg burning run on mountain run we hit lookout mt.

As we were skiing down the Wilmington trail a patroller stopped and I asked if Lookout Below would be opening. He was just on his way over to drop the rope on it...perfect timing. Lookout Below is a beast of a trail that makes outer limits seem tame IMO.

We made our way back to the summit to ski upper skyward and a bumped up lower skyward and Blazers Bluff. I'm sure I'm missing stuff in between but I finished my day off with a 3 mile run down Wilmington.

Day 2...The empire strikes back.

We started off around 9am and took the clousplitter to little whiteface. We skied approach and were ecstatic to find that upper Empire was open!

On the way down I noticed that the cloudsplitter glades were open. I continued skiing empire the whole way. We then hit the summit for a leg burning 3100 vertical.

We decided to hit lookout mt. where the stoke levels jumped when we found out that the sugar valley glades were open from Deer Valley. We got lost in the woods for a solid 20 minutes. Sugar Valley is the definition of eastern skiing...so much fun

We made our way up the gondi to little wf where we skied empire to cloudsplitter glades which were perfect. Again we got lost amongst the tall evergreens for a good 15 minutes. The clousplitter glades were easily the run of the day.

We hit the summit again for a run down skyward to blazers bluff then another run on Lookout Below. LB was much softer than yesterday and so much fun to ski. I know I'm missing stuff but we finished with a run off of the gondi to empire back to the cloudsplitter glades to the high country glades to the base.

It was so much fun to explore the Whiteface's trees and off piste. On one of the gondi rides up a local was telling us how he skis all over the world but Whiteface is his favorite which I thought was a pretty big complement.
