Dates Skied: 12/28 12/29 and 12/31

Resort or Ski Area: Wildcat Mountain

Lift Lines: I waited in line once... 99% of the time I just skied right onto the chair lift and headed back up for another run.

Conditions: Mostly Packed Powder and Loose Granular but there was some Frozen Granular, Hardpack, Ice, etc.

Trip Report: Got there Thursday to pick up my season's pass expecting to take a few runs and call it an early day due to icy conditions... I was wrong, it was great! We took the Tomcat Triple then headed over to Cheetah which had some great snow on it. Very soft snow and some small bumps at the sides. They were making snow on Middle Catapult and it was not yet open. Alley Cat had some really good snow on it but it was icy in places by the end of the day (which can be expected any time of the season). Lower Catapult was surprisingly good too; great high-speed lift-line cruising run. Sometime after lunch they opened up Middle Catapult with the snow-guns going; the snow was so soft and so nice. A few bumps were starting to form by days end.
-----------------------
Conditions were so good Thursday my Dad opted to get the next day ticket for $29 for himself so we skied at The 'Cat on Friday as well. We arrived early and the temperature was reading at around 11 or 12 degrees! It was cold! Took a run off the Tomcat Triple and things weren't as nice as the previous day but this was because the sun was yet to heat things up. Cheetah was nice as it was the previous day. They shut off the snow-guns on Middle Catapult and it had great :daffy: :spread: bumps forming! Snow-making had begun on Middle and Lower Lynx as well.

-----------------------
I opted to go to Wildcat on Sunday after the snowfall they received the previous day. Middle and Lower Lynx were now open, both of which they had left ungroomed. They had some fairly easy bumps although many of the lines were a bit short. Middle Catapult was still left ungroomed (thanks!) and the bumps were fairly nice. Some were getting skied off and icy in places though. Middle Wildcat was pretty icy. Cheetah was nice on the left side if you could hug the side of the trail.

Overall I was very impressed with the conditions and I enjoyed skiing Wildcat as I always do.

Many pictures to come soon.

edit:
I skied Wildcat a year from 12/28/06 on 12/28/05 which can be found here:

I even got to ski the woods a little then...

At the top, of middle catapult there was a mound of snow that was the size of SUV and steep as heck on the backside dropping right into some steep upsloping bumps - it was a real choke point causing lots traffic funneling and subsequent ice - the trail was alot of fun Saturday

And at first that "bump" or snowmaking mound had no caution sign on it... I can only imagine what happened to the guy who was skiing the bumps and happened to go a wee bit fast off of that one. :-o
