OK, I may have ONE trip left in me...and I have Wildcat on the brain. I'm looking @ Sunday (26 Mar).

Intellicast for North Conway indicates reasonable temps and chances of flurries through the week/weekend.

The Cat's Snow Report looks like it needs interpretation. Variable? Anybody been there in the past week?

last Saturday ( 3/18 ) was firm but edgeable with many bulletproof patches on the sides, all very visible and avoidable. The snow did loosen up nicely and the sides were skiing very nicely. No crowds. Didn't wait in line once. Wildcat is usually one of the places to be this time of year. I think the majority have given up on the season.

it always does ;)

Conditions on the mountain cover a wide range, going from packed powder to loose and frozen granular, with some slick spots along the way.
read: non-groomed trails are scraped and crappy. on the groomers, expect some sections of scraped and occasional ice from the get go getting worse throughout the day. packed powder conditions really means we haven't seen powder in weeks, but the cats have groomed it into a frozen gran consistancy that skis pretty fast.

hopefully they will get some more snow. i would hold off until it gets a little warmer and things soften up a bit, though i have a bias in that i think wildcat is best skied in the spring. i haven't been there and can't report first hand, but their groomed trails couldn't be any worse than jay peaks groomers are after three feet of snow, and jay peak's groomers are still pretty nasty. unless you are going northern VT north of 89, conditions are gonna be pretty similar everywhere. you can only groom man made snow in cold weather so many times before it gets nasty.

Thanks RC...probably a good call.

I'm close to being done unfortunately. Lots to do around the house.

I might end up @ Wa for first chair and be done by 11 and call it a year (unless we catch some March storm. WHAT THE HANG!! I thought March was the snowiest month?!

Despite the crappy Jan, I've had a pretty good run this season. Could be time to switch gears and put the summer wax on the bases. *sigh*

With 80+ views....I'm wondering what the attraction is with a post titled "Wildcat Sunday?".

My first thought was...people are interested in skiing Wildcat and are looking for a green-light before committing to the commute. Maybe they're hoping to hear it's the place to be or whatever.

My next thought was maybe folks are looking to see if there's an AZ event there. Sort of like what happens @ my work every decent weather day..an RFH...Request for Hoops, only this would be an RFS.

Thoughts?

All of the above.
