Heading north on Sunday with my 13 YO son for a day trip. Hoping to avoid crowds and keep driving time to less than 3 hours each way i was thinking about either Magic, Bromley or Berkshire East. The weather forecast is for a cold windy day and i know Magic has a reputation of wind-resistant lifts so it is a prime candidate for us. I've not skied Bromley or BEast, does anyone know how those mountains do on windy days?

Bromley faces South, might help with the cold. Plus they have nice Glades to keep you out of the wind.

We are skiing at Sunday River tomorrow which I hope will not be too badly affected by winds and then we will be at Saddleback on monday, where we can always depend on the T-bars if the winds are still high.

As for the lifts at Bromley, they have 1 high speed quad to the summit, but if that's closed because of wind you can always take the Sun, Alpine or East Meadow doubles and ski down to the Blue Ribbon fixed grip quad which also goes to the summit.

Winds where suprisingly light at Sunday River today and they did not pick up and get gusty until after 1pm, by the end of the day they where ocasionally quite strong near the summits, but calm near base areas.

Tomorrow sounds scary with highs around 0F and a forecast for sustained 25-30mph winds with gusts past 40+mph. We will be skiing at Saddleback and hopefully the T-bars will be running and we plan to stay in the glades to avoid the winds as much as possible.
