In a visit to Minneapolis-St. Paul a few years ago, I was driving to church on a Sunday morning and the city was bustling with hundreds of people outdoors. Some of the stuff I saw or heard about:

Sleigh rides
dogsled races
chili feeds
Snow and Ice Sculpture
encampments
art walk
hiking,
Candlelight skiing
snowshoe hikes
bonfires
snowmobile runs
turkey bowling
vintage snowmobile "freeze your buns run"
Finnish sliding
Polar plunges
golf on frozen lakes
racing beds
bar stools downhill
lake hockey & ice skating
ice castles, with towers, archways, tunnels, walkways, illuminated with lights in the ice.
Children's snow park
snow tubing
Ice fishing
lake ice hockey & ice skating
who can say no to "Ullr Mountain" ?
outdoor Karaoke
Ice bar and Lounge - drinks in ice shot glasses sitting outside next to a bonfire
Ice bocce
Learn how to cut ice blocks from the lake
Kite skiing on lake -it's awesome - you can travel a mile in one minute

Real cool to watch.

Join an ice yacht club

Ice sailing - wicked awesome!

who says there's nothing to do in the winter? Get outside!

I think, if they don't ski or board, that candlelight skiing might not belong on that list.

There are plenty of great winter activities, but if you are not skiing or riding then you are missing the best part.

There is always going outside in the cold for no good reason.

Or, staying indoors for 5 months at a time.

If I'm not riding, then I usually spend my winter dabbling in alcoholism.

Isnt that the same artist who wanted to drape a massive tarp over the grand canyon?

Also, I thought ice fishing was a means to an end, aka alone time from the wife?
