Any word as to if Snowbasin does an encore this weekend? Snow is in the forecast.
The storm is now looking pretty lame. The website says Closed Until Summer. They don't have the elevation for it. Solitude skied better today than Snowbasin did that last week they were open. So far we are not missing Snowbasin this spring. Good thing we got the IKON base add on.

I hit day 43 at Brighton, UT today, 15 Apr 2025. First half of April has been really good in UT! First week was powder, second week was real fine spring conditions. Crowds low everywhere all month.

1. 12/10: Mt Snow - Groomers in the freezing drizzle. 18.5k
2. 12/25 Mt Sunapee - Fast groomers on Christmas. 15k
3. 1/9 Pats Peak - Windy groomers and some bumps. 12.1k
4. 1/12 Bolton - Late day woods. 7.4k
5. 1/13 Stowe - Terrific soft woods and nats. 40.7k
6. 1/14 Stowe - 9" powder, untouched Liftline, deep woods. 20.9k
7. 1/20 Magic - 4" powder, first tracks Talisman and Sorcerer, thin but soft. 21.9k
8. 1/23 Crotched - Night skiing cut short by lift failure. 4.9k
9. 1/26 Okemo - Very thin trees, fun nats, big midday squall. 31.6k
10. 1/28 Waterville - Couple inches from squall, empty bubble laps. 25k
11. 2/2 Jay - Bit of a struggle with variable snow, nats more fun than woods. 20k
12. 2/3 Stowe - 4" refresh overnight, woods skiing gorgeous. 30.1k
13. 2/9 Ragged - 9" powder but late arrival had me picking up the scraps. First time there, glades are terrific! 16.7k
14. 2/10 Stowe - 7" powder, woods deep, bashing powder bumps on Liftline, exhausting day. 30.9k
15. 2/11 Stowe - 2" of the softest snow I've ever seen was the perfect topping on the already soft and deep base. Like skiing in feathers. Woods amazing. 33.1k
16. 2/23 Middlebury - Main summit lift broken down, arrived late and only other summit access closed at 3 so quantity was limited. Some crust in backside woods. Liked what I saw for terrain. Day was a dud but would love to go back. 4.3k
17. 2/24 Stowe - Only managed 5 runs because I was under the weather. Woods full of hero snow. 10.3k
18. 2/25 Stowe - Spring preview with manky woods but nice soft bumps and groomers. Knee started to hurt and rain moved in so called it early. 15.6k

19. 4/13 Okemo - Cool and foggy but soft spring snow and couple areas of seeded bumps. 15.4k
20. 4/14 Jay - Perfect spring day, woods and nats mint. 19k
21. 4/15 Stowe - Forecasted rain didn't arrive until afternoon, making for another perfect spring morning. Silky corn in woods, soft and sometimes adventurous nats. 21.7k

Sad that March ended up being a goose egg, but weather and time off just didn't work in my favor. But these last 2 days were just the absolute best of spring in the deep northern VT snow. My season is down to a day or two at Killington.

I've been on the fence about my pass situation for next year. Did I want to switch back to Ikon or keep riding with Epic? I think my decision is pretty easy at this point. I skied 8 days at Stowe this year, and other than my childhood days at Wachusett and my college days at Burke I don't think I've ever skied that many days in a season anywhere else. It is more or less my home mountain now. Affordable lodging, good restaurants, and most importantly IMO the best overall ski experience in the east. And I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface with the place.
I don't blame you. For east coast skiing, Stowe is the best.

When I arrived at K on 4/16 it was storming pretty good. Windy and snowing big flakes. Conditions got better as the day went on and it continued snowing after the close into the night. 4/17 was a legitimate powder day in the morning. Hit Downdraft first, one track on the trail and the conditions were awesome. 3-4" on top of a firm base. Then hit North Ridge where the skiing was genuine mid-Winter goodness. Could still ski Powerline down to the lift. Then back to the top where upper mountain trees were still quite doable. Took Escapade back to the Canyon quad and hit Downdraft and Double Dipper. Skied 9-2 and called it a day as the temps were rising and snow was getting heavy. 4/18 was a spring day. On the lift at 9 again. Double Dipper was groomed and fun to ski top to bottom. Downdraft was still great, but Escapade started to burn out in the warmth. By 1 the snow was getting very heavy and I called it a day. Glad I made it back to K for my last 3 day trip.

Glad I didn't give up on the season after mid-March. Got some more powder days in April. Got to 40 days total.
Good season and good snow.

19) Beaver Creek - Nice place. Birds of Prey must be insane at 70mph. It was closing day & I saw some crazy ****. Like patrol sledding a guy too intoxicated to ski.
20) Vail - 5 year old had a hoot in the Back Bowls. We only have double diamond bowls in Park City, so she's never skied an open canvas like that.
21) Breckenridge
22) Breckenridge
23) Breckenridge - surprise powder day! 12" fresh with no crowds because Denver couldn't get there!

Ended the season with 5 days in Colorado. It was nice to invade other people's EPIC towns for a change. Plus we'd never skied Breck or BC before & it's always fun checking new places out. That 3/4 mile long T-bar though, I could live without it. About 12 days fewer than I hoped for, but a new job, parent stuff & adulting got in the way a bit. Still I feel I did okay in a crappy Utah snow year where it was often feast or famine.

And this is where the intentionally artificially high lift ticket prices from mega passes suck, because I'd definitely ski a few more days, but cant justify $500 for the 3 of us to spend a spring skiing day at Solitude or Snowbird.

Got 31 days in this season with Sunday River & Saddleback each being double headers with Sugarloaf. Not sure how to count those but either way it was 31 days on skis spread throughout 16 different resorts...

December
Snowmass 5 days
Ajax 1 day
Highlands 1 day
Copper 2 days

January
Killington 1 day
Sugarbush 1 day
Pico 1 day

February
Jackson Hole 5 days
Deer Valley 4 days

March
Sunday River 1 day
Sugarloaf 3 days
Saddleback 1 day

April
Crystal 3 days
Mt Bachelor 2 days
Timberline 1 day
Mt Hood Meadows 1 day

The highlights were two awesome powder days in December at Snowmass. All five of our days at Jackson Hole came with atleast 6 to 8 inches of snow each day and we had one of the best spring ski days of all time at Crystal on our last trip of the season.

Fun afternoon/evening of skiing and music! The mountain still had a few routes down. Maple Slalom to Jackson Standard still had a ton of snow. Big Dipper and Speedwell were a little thin but still fun! For music there was a guy playing live music most of the afternoon at the base, another playing live music from 4-6:30 at the Alpine Cabin. And then a full band playing disco and funk covers from 6-9pm. All this on a Friday. It was my girlfriend’s and our friend’s first time there and they became instant fans of the mountain and can’t wait to return!

Even though the weather was going to be potentially dreary, I went to Saddleback to use up my last Indy day and hopefully get some glade skiing in. Couldn’t believe how much snow melted since the previous Sunday skiing powder in Casablanca. There was no natural snow left on the Kennebago trails. After a couple runs up top, it became clear the Kennebago was not worth returning to so spent the entire day skiing off the Rangeley. First half of the day was rain but the sun eventually came out. Thrombosis and Nightmare Glades were still skiable and fun. Peachy’s, as I always find, had great bumps. Also fun were the T-bar trails which softened the most in the sun. While I was soaked, it was still a fun time!

Looked like a great day! Our original plan was to ski Saddleback Friday but Black was more convenient with everyone’s work schedule. And allowed me to use vacation time today to ski instead at Sugarloaf

Took the day off to go to Sugarloaf. While it was a mix of fog and clouds at the base, it was warm and there was generally some sun near the top of the Superquad. The trails were all a nice soft spring snow consistency. Really enjoyable conditions. The mountain is pretty much down to just Sluice, Gauge, Skidder, Hayburner, Kings, and Tote with an option to ski Haywire. All of which were skiing great till you get around the base area. The fog definitely is taking its toll at the top of Skyline. Not sure if that will make it to the weekend honestly. And if they do it might just be Sluice Chute.

Thinking I’ll be there Friday and Sunday. With another Ikon day left over in case they go to May, but wouldn’t be surprised if this weekend is it for them based on how quick the snow is melting at the base.
