Zipp Service Course SL-80 Handle Bar
Not everyone worships the carbon gods. In fact, some of the strongest sprinters in the peloton prefer to trust their sprint to aluminum. The Zipp Service Course SL-80 is an ideal choice for riders looking for a handlebar that provides comfort and a variety of positions without sacrificing strength and durability.
Constructed from 7050 aluminum, Zipp's Service course bars weigh in at 250grams. Yes, they are about 60grams heavier than Zipp's carbon bars, but they are durable and strong enough to power you to that 1000watt + sprint. Additionally, the shape of the bars provides optimal positioning whether you are pulling at the front or catching the slipstream while riding the hoods in the back. The SL-80's have been thus named due to the shallow reach. The reach is the horizontal measurement from the stem clamp to the center of the brake perch. This 80mm brings the bars back toward the rider which keeps the drops close and usable -- without requiring a shorter stem. Thus, the handling of the bike is unaffected -- using too short of a stem can lead to a twitchy front end. It also allows you to place the brake hoods so that the transition from the bars is flat, without having to rotate your bars upwards. Additionally, the drop is a shallow 125mm and they angle out at 4degrees. This allows a more natural wrist position to reduce strain.
The rounded bar top is clip-on bar end compatible, so that you can use them in your next triathlon with bar extensions. The stem clap is 31.8mm. They are available in six sizes in 2cm increments from 36cm to 46cm and in two colors: Polished black and Beyond black.
