Zipp Vuka Stealth Aerobar
In either the time trial or triathlon, aerodynamics all boils down to one thing -- position. With this in mind, Zipp created the new Vuka Stealth Aerobar. With 1920 possible fit adjustment options and an integrated design, it's no wonder that it's already making waves and winning races.
Zipp was fully aware of your need to adjust and customize your fit when it designed the Vuka Stealth. Accordingly, you'll find that the aerobar provides you with 1920 different fit options. So, you're able to dial-in every aspect of the bars. For stem length, each of the bar's three sizes comes with a stem-length spacer that increases length by 10mm. Altogether, when factoring in the three sizing options, you're looking at a possible 50mm of variation. Additionally, the bars' stack height and reach are also both adjustable - to a nearly infinite degree. Zipp has also designed the pads to be adjusted in accordance with either pad width, position, extension width, or extension length. Needless to say, if you're unable to find your position on the Vuka Stealth, you probably don't have one.
For the construction, Zipp formed the Vuka Stealth from unidirectional carbon fiber. Why uni-directional? Well, compared to a woven carbon fabric, uni-directional carbon is oriented as it sounds, with one direction, or on one axis. And while this makes the production process incredibly complex in regard to load path and force direction determination, the payout is worth it to Zipp. You see, compared to woven layups, uni-directional fibers provide stiffer platforms, while also improving vibration dampening. And, just as importantly, this is achieved at a much lower overall weight. Furthering this notion of lightweight design, the Vuka Stealth benefits from a combination of titanium and aluminum hardware, keeping the weight down to around a respectable 820 grams in the Medium size.
As far the shape, the Vuka Stealth features an integrated stem, basebar, and mounting hardware. Or, in other words, a nearly one-piece design. For aerodynamics, Zipp utilized a truncated airfoil shape (think of a shortened tear drop) that still adheres to the UCI's 3:1 aspect ratio requirement. And furthering this concept is the basebar's Rapid Routing internal cable system.
The Vuka Stealth is compatible with the Vuka Straight, Race, and Ski-Tip extensions -- extensions and shifters are sold separately. Additionally, the integrated stem is only compatible with 1-1/8 inch steerer tubes.
The Zipp Vuka Stealth is available in the color Black and in the sizes Small, Medium, and Large. Please note that the Vuka Stealth ships with an integrated stem and basebar, Vuka Stealth extension clamp and armrest clamp, Vuka Stealth risers (two each of 10 mm, 25 mm and 50 mm risers), Vuka armrest pads and Vuka armrest. Also included are a T25 L wrench, carbon paste and a 1/4 turn Zipp Quickview mount with an integrated and proprietary mounting interface.
