This is my first post so I apologize up front if this is the wrong section to post this.

I just wanted to spread the word about Snowforecast.com's forecast coverage expansion for the 2007-2008 season. We now currently provide snow reports as well as short and term and long term forecasts for almost every resort in the US and Canada.

We are unlike many other sites out there in that we are not a big corporate engine that simply puts out automated reports; we are live people who update our forecasts and disussions on a daily basis. Since its summer, its really not that big of a deal since the weather is pretty predictable. But come winter, we will prove to be the most reliable source for snow reports, forecasts and conditions.

We've been the primary supplier of custom forecasts to the resorts directly for the past 9 years so we are excited to be expanding. We just re-launched the new site design two weeks ago and additional features will be coming soon (live cams, current conditions, historical snowfall records are coming).

Please visit www.snowforecast.com and give us your feedback. We would love to hear from you.

Thanks.

Joe

While I'm sure many of us would appreciate your services, you probably should've contacted Greg before making this post.

I wasn't aware of that. I appreciate the heads-up. Do you know how I can get in contact with Greg?

Nice site, I'll probably take a look at it some more when we get closer to ski season.

Looks good, I was looking at the Vermont area portion. Is Smuggs really 1000 acres?

We received alot of this data from the resorts themselves or from there websites so they might be "liberal". Probably total acreage, not skiiable acreage. Good question though - we'll check it out.

Per the policies:

Advertisements/Promotions: Historically, messages containing links to products or relevant Websites have been allowed. Provided the link is in direct response to a message requesting such information, or is on topic and considered valuable enough that it warrants its own thread, these types of links will continue to be allowed. However, links posted by a non-contributing member (e.g. a member posting a product link as their first and only post) may be deleted. The administrator and moderators reserve the right to edit or delete any topic containing an advertisement/promotion at any time. The best approach is to become a contributing member to build some credibility before promoting anything.

I think this on topic enough to let it slide. Good luck with it and welcome Joe. I'll be interested to see the accuracy this season.

Hey, at least the guy's polite, and it wasn't another wacked out foreign porn site hipe like that salvo last season over at the ADKforums. IMHO, anythings better than the TheWeatherChannel.com.

Are these reports that you make up, or are they stuff that the mountain sends you? Such as yesterday the mountain got a accumulated 12", that just happened to be a drift were they checked it?;-)

I am always looking for better forecasting, currently I use NOAA most consistently because they adjust for elevation. Unfortunately it is difficult to target given elevations with NOAA. Do you guys plan to adjust for elevation? There is nothing more frustrating than checking a forecast for killington and getting the snowfall/temp projections for rutland. Furthermore do you guys plan to adjust for elavation within a given resort? Base vs summit temp/snowfall projections?

Hey there, the nature of the beast is that you take the official resort report as they are the people on mountain early to take the measurements. Sure the "marketing ruler" is employed at times, more frequent or less frequently depending on the resort, but in all fairness snow can be very difficult to measure. When it is windy, sometimes all you have are drifts to measure, but you are supposed to measure in several spots with an average depth being the final result.

-Something snowforecast.com will have (not snow-forecast) is an "on mountain" snow reports area, whereby you can submit your own on mountain snow report, minus the marketing ruler. Thank You for asking.

Thanks for the question, we will do as much elevation differential forecasting as possible. We are well-known for forecasting base and top temperatures, winds, etc, and will try to apply this type of forecasting to all of our ski resort forecasts. Some information is automated, and this information is based on elevation, augmented by us, with discussions done by us every morning. We think you will like it. Again, thank you for asking.
