They only determine the cause of death. Not any charges. The article made that clear.

Technically, the cause of death was homicide. It is for a prosecutor to determine if charges are appropriate.

I didn't make it past the first sentence. I read it and concluded the author is clueless because since when does a medical person determine that a death was caused by intent, negligence or just bad luck. I'll go Google what "coroner" exactly means...
