Used that many times , throw a coat over the skis in the backseat and you never know there in the car ,
Never put em anywhere road salt can get to them!You can wash off the outside but salt dust gets into places you can't clean .

You can technically do that with the new subarus. The mount for a ski/bike/kayak etc rack can be swiveled 90 degrees so that you get slightly better fuel economy when nothing is attached.
