I noticed something this morning that I didn't think would have happened.

Well maybe I know why it happened....Why is noone talking about how GREAT THE YANKEES DID THIS PAST WEEKEND???

So far its a TROUNCING......what one more this afternoon? Mere formality...

Sorry BO -Sox...wasnt a good weekend to be a fan...

I had to..im sorry.. :D

I don't follow hockey much.

I just happened to flip it on this weekend and noticed...I know there are a lot of "fans" on this board and always hear "chatter" about favorite teams...I think I saw a post last week about the Great Northeast divide??? Yeah....that was it..so I figured i'd try to get to the bottom of the uncharatcteristic silence...

;-)

Stop lying...you're not sorry and neither am I. Yanks kicked some serious ass this past weekend. Sox are on life support at this point.

They lose the last game today (a 5 game sweep) and it's all over baby!

I'm sorry, i didnt realize they handed out championships in august. There are still 40 or so games left. Today IS a huge game. 6.5 back, not so good, 4.5 back very doable.

no it wasnt a good weekend at all. I turned last nights game off after the 7th inning. I was absolutely sure francona would put in papelbon to start the eighth. He didnt and got burned. One thing this series has done is end the love affair in boston with theo. Fair or not, by not trading any young talent to get a starter or a quality bullpen arm, they were totally exposed as a pitching staff, top to bottom, this weekend. Schilling cant do it all by himself and he should sue his teammates for last night. You ask a 39 year old pitcher to sit for an hour and he comes back and, except for the 4th inning, totally shut the yankees down. That was a crime.

really didnt want to rub it inas i know sox fans are probably a little sensitive to it today, (I'd be if theyanks went down as poorly as the sox) especially tomorrow if the yanks sweep. though its good to know that the universe is back in alignment with the yanks on top of the AL East. todays quote from big papi: "they should let us win one to make it an interesting series" though i must say: he'd look great in pinstripes...ws

That's a little different tone than the one I heard from Sox fans 6 weeks ago...you guys had the pitching staff from baseball heaven back then and everyone in NE was thinking playoffs.

Listen, 6.5 or 4.5, you guys are on life support.

I just hope they dont have a "do not resuscitate" clause.

And for what its worth, i've been worried about their pitching from day one. I, mistakenly, thought it was still better than the yankees.

Hey, winning games with scores like 14-10 doesn't say much for either pitching staff. Yankee bats got hot, especially Damon (sorry) and Giambi.

I'm still unimpressed with the Yanks' rotation.

I cant believe i stayed up til 1am watching that only to go into work at 5 disappointed yet again.. Ill say this they dont necessarily miss Varitek's bat, but they do miss him calling a good game.. The division is gone , wildcard still in play. I have much respect for the yanks, and i think once again it was proven that PAP is a good closer, but when MO was put in a similiar situation he came thru which is why hes a great closer.. The yankee fans have no idea how much they will miss him when he is gone.

Coming from a die hard fan...the Yanks rotation flat out stinks...and I dread each and every outing The "little" unit has....

PITCHING WINS WORLD SERIES.........someday soon Steinbrenner will AGAIN realize this fact...those bats won't always save us sadly.

Both teams have average pitching, good, not great aces in Schilling & Mussina, at this point in their career's I'll take Schilling though Johnson never had great command but incredible stuff which made people a little leery crowding the plate.

Mo is a first ballet all star, no questions about if he ever started a game, he's lost a few games but he's still the best today.

This weekend we saw how much better Damon is than Crisp in big series, to be fair to Theo, we would have signed hime for $12m this year but the fear is that he'll be worth far less in 2008 & 2009 & Coco will be much better.

Detroit may only have enough arms with Bonderman & Verlander (I'm forgetting one of their good starters) starting & their bullpen to short these guys down, Toronto is a starter away but Halladay may be best in MLB right now, Santana a close 2nd.

Assuming all the NYY beome healthy I don't know if you can shut this line up down,
Damon (more home runs then the #3 hitter)
Jeter - Best MVP candidate not closing games or wearing #34
Bobby A. (better OBP than the lead-off hitter, 2nd to Manny)
Giambi low average, power numbers not suffering
A-Rod having a sub par season will end up with 30+ HR over 100 RBI
Sheffield - Fresh, a bit stale 450+ career home runs
Matsui - more professional than anyone else in lineup, apologized for being injured???
Cano - Hits & steals like the Nationals left fielder
Posada - not a bad # 9 hitter

Sox kids, Beckett included need to learn how & when to pitch Vs. throwing, Wells has forgotten more about pitching then kids know, after six he has given up one run, Manny is out of the game & Lidle (a pretender at best) somehow has a shutout still. Pena needs to learn how it hit good pitches because someone has to bat 5th so they don't just walk Manny & Big Papi

Go Patriots
