What's your favorite mid-sized hill? For this discussion, use a vert of 1,200' - 1,800' as a definition for "mid-sized". This definition limits us to NY and Northern New England. I would rate the top three as follows:

#1 - Hunter, NY
#2 - Magic, VT
#3 - Mount Snow, VT

Shwanee Peak, Bridgton, ME. Great views, skis bigger that it's 1,300 foot vertical, legitimate black diamond trails

I agree with WWF-VT on this one about Shawnee Peak, but Sunapee is also one of my pics as well. Not because I work there, but more because we do have pretty reliable snow, and the terrain doesn't seem to get all that old (well, at least for me it doesn't). I live 5 miles from Sunapee in view of it, so it's very nice to be able to get up in the morning at 7:30 and be on the slopes by 8, avoiding the crowds.

Although they are not technically within the defined vertical drop limits I like:

Berkshire East
Black Mountain Of Maine
Cranmore - Vertical just makes it.

Cranmore seriously is an awful mountain. Crowded, lame trails, etc etc.

Jiminy is 1,150 so they don't qualify. Better start a favorite small mt. thread.

Right. I purposely went with 1,200 to eliminate the Mass hills from the discussion. I guess some of them could be considered "medium" though.

Brodie use to claim 1,200, but now they're Snowy Owl resort or something like that. Are private members of that so called upscale private club able to ski there this season? I havn't read anything about it.

I liked Cranmore alot and I ski with my son, so it is a good family mountain. To be perfectly honest we left Wildcat with it's awfull snow conditions and had a blast at Cranmore. The back bowl was fun and the HSQ was not crowded.

Again I ski with a child so my priorities are different.
