I'm thinking this guy will end up with $500K - $1MM and it will be settled outside of the courts. The last thing Vail would want is discovery and a jury trial. I'm not an attorney, but just a guess.

Yet here you are.....
I’m here because I don’t have anything worthy to say. I don’t have any burning question needing answer. Nor do I see any question needs my contribution either. I’m here purely for occasional entertainment.

I went from a frequent poster to a mostly lurker. Sometimes I don’t check the site for 2 weeks. Half of the time I only glance at the thread title but don’t open any at all, and left.

Having breakfast now at a joint a few miles from Attitash. Rumor is the man who was dropped from the lift was having drinks that same night at the Red Parka.

Saul would tell you staying out of bars and seeing a wide variety of specialists/racking up a huge amount of medical bills is how you get a huge pain and suffering payout.

isn’t that why all of us are here?
ALL?

There used to be a time there were INFORMATION here, helpful pointers and such too.

But I’m not expecting those days would ever come back again. The only question is how many “occasions“ of finding any entertainment

You know, this question is about the best “occasion” for entertainment this week so far. That’s how this site ranks.

Absolutely true.

Anyone who has anything worthy to say, take note, nobody is listening on here.

(but they‘ll argue with you for the sake of it)

I think there’s a lot of good information on this thread. Info about how HSQ’s work etc. info on lack of maintenance at Attitash and Vail as a whole. Information that would affect my choices in where to ski. Forums may be quieter now with places like Reddit being bigger, but they are still alive and kicking.

AZ has always been just basically water cooler talk for Northeast skiers with several people also knowing and occasionally skiing with each other in real life. I've met and skied with dozens of members and some are regular ski buddies and year round friends.

It was basically started by Greg to finance a ski habit and meet ski buddies . Nick bought it to somewhat do the same, but barely skis anymore and basically leaves the light on for us and doesn't make much if any money doing it.

Skier A: Cannon was great today, going to Jay tomorrow. you?

Skier B: Skied Wildcat today, man it sucks lately, but at least Vail didn't almost kill a guy there like at Attitash.

Skier A: F Rob Katz

Snow Journal: same thing, but a bit more serious and less joking around. Kinda fits Rivercoils personality better. I recall him voicing displeasure at some of the juvenile commentary here including mine, so he left. And his site is a personal blog and basically a journal, not a forum. Pretty funny you think this is designed to make money:

Now Skitalk is a place for valuable information on gear, technique and a host other topics, but also has a bit of water cooler talk too. Phil and Tricia are long time ski retailers and extremely well connected in the industry. They work hard to promote their site globally, make money at it and lasting professional and personal relationships. I very much enjoy the content they host.

But you could combine all of these sites and numerous other small ones like NYskiblog, DC ski, etc and the yearly content wouldn't match what is shared by people in Facebook, Instagram, TikToK etc in half a day. Those forms of social media are why forums like AZ barely survive anymore. People want one stop shopping for everything in life they're interested in. I've seen the same thing happen in music forums that I used to follow but have mostly gone the way of the Dodo.

There's your lesson on the Internet and Social Media for the day, ABC.

I've always enjoyed the more personal connection of a forum, even though I don't know any of you in real life. I think Social media and Reddit to a large part suck because of that and the information seems less trustworthy.

Sure this place is a shell of itself from when I joined years ago. I still find it informative and certainly entertaining. There's a lot of sarcasm here which Is my style. it isn't for everyone though. some day this place will disappear and then I guess I'll probably delve into Reddit or maybe just spend my free time doing something more constructive LOL

I'm in a few Facebook ski groups and I rarely post/respond in anything. FB groups would be akin to someone on this forum starting a new thread about similar topics every day. There's no continuity on topics. I don't find the format conducive for ski topics. And then add in the ridiculous amount of negativity in most posts...

I deleted my Facebook account recently. It was no longer giving me any good in life. Totally separate from skiing. But also skiing groups on Facebook made me want to scream and throw my computer a lot

Reddit skiing is fine for general ski content. Icecoast is full of stupid people saying stupid incorrect things

I like it here because I’ve learned a lot about eastern skiing and logistics over the year and while I’m too solitary and awkward to want to ski with any of the people here, I enjoy many of the personas and the conversation

I also feel that the audience here is small and I am pretty open about speaking about “secretive” things, to a point

Also my real life friends and partner have no interest whatsoever in my vertical or the good snow in the woods above 2500”

I disappear in the summers

100% same for me.
I wish there was more traffic, but the youngs don't understand the format LOL

I randomly skied with a bunch of the magic guys who post here one day. Random chairlift pairing. We had a fun day. If magic was more damn consistent I’d probably have followed that up

I stepped away from Facebook for a few months for many reasons, but came back recently with a highly slimmed down Feed. I unfollowed like 75% of the pages I once did and numerous friends too who I found posted annoying content.

Basically the reason I came back was because I found I was missing useful information in life about many things that seem to either only get broadcasted on Social Media or its broadcasted there first. Ski conditions, road and school closures, local events / parties me or my kids might like, show announcements etc.

And yes, we do care about the good snow you find, but nobody gives a shit about your vertical. ;)
