Was coming back from SR a couple of weeks back and hit a fireman's "fill the boot" congo line through Paris. That just about did it for me and Sunday River.
I assume you mean South Parris. So you don't know Oxford St. to bypass all that sh#%. ? I haven't been through South Paris in about 35 years. LOL

They're wise to the shortcut and have the "fill the boot" before the Oxford St. turnoff! Right by Moore Park in South Paris. Our slowdown wasn't too bad, they do it one Sunday a year and we always throw something in. Figure it's the least we can do for clogging their roads twice a week all winter long. But if there's another shortcut to avoid that I'm all ears...

Avoid 26 all together !
302 to 35 to 5. Way less traffic & NO Cops.
I definitely do that one sometimes for a change of pace - love the back roads in Harrison and Waterford! And good swimming on that path in the summer too. I don't find much time savings personally because the bumps/frost heaves slow me down more on 35/5. I've learned the hard way not to go that route during bad weather, too. Sometimes I'll be on 26 in a storm and Google Maps will pop up, "Save 10 minutes via ME-35". I think what's happening is that there's enough traffic on 26 to show the snow-related slowdowns, but there usually isn't enough traffic on 35/5 to get the same real-time data. But 26 is much more likely to have seen a plow recently than 5/35 and is still probably the faster bet under snowy conditions.

Ehh, not so much of a time saver anymore IMHO. Too many know about it and if you take it during peak drive times, huge backup on Oxford to turn left onto 117. Then you get to wait for the non-stopping 26 traffic at the intersection for a while usually.

Sunday River the closer I get the further away I feel.

There are very weird agreements with the N.H. State Police, Boarder, Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦

That was decidedly faster in good weather before they redid 26 near Gray. I'm thoroughly unconvinced that remains the case, but I haven't tried enough times to have any real data.

Another traffic light was added south of the Poland resort last summer...

Everytime I go the 302 to 35 to 5 I get stuck behind locals going Waaay to slow. Nope no time saved. I also have not encoutered the bypass traffic. But I don't drive up Friday night at rush hour so I never see it. And there are ways around everything if you really are that adverse to waiting for a few cars.

I heard that there was a big power outage this weekend and that folks were stuck on J8. Yikes!
Yeah, its true. I was at the Igloo yesterday when it happened. Just finished a beer and noticed the Jordan lift hadn't moved in a while. People started bailing from the lift line and hiking up towards the Grand. The back up generators started at some point and the lift started moving real slow. Not sure how long it took to get everyone off the lift but it must have been forever. Eventually they got buses down to a small parking lot where the igloo is and drove everyone out. Kind of an end to a crazy day there, with most lifts on wind hold, but if you were patient it was still a great day.

Its in decent shape. It turned cold Saturday night and they got a dusting. Considering the warm ups we've had it was way better than I expected. Should be good for this weekend.
