Will be tough for Copper to match the attendance #'s that Killington has been able to generate. Year after year they have been able to pull plenty of people from Eastern US and Canadian urban centersWell of course...
If they had additional rentals for the WC build out. I suspect we'd have seen further expansion elsewhere and the course and training build out.
We'll see next year!
Also you can view the copper base area build out and they have a SIGNIFICANTLY smaller grand stand and in general area to host the cup.
If Copper draws 1/2 the crowd Killington has year in and year out, I would be surprised. Will be tough for Copper to match the attendance #'s that Killington has been able to generate. Year after year they have been able to pull plenty of people from Eastern US and Canadian urban centers
It's not one or the other it all factors inNo im not in the camp that this year's terrain expansion is due to no wold cup. They don't have as many rental compressors.
This has to do with moving to low-E guns and one of the best Novembers in history.
Copper was plenty busy this weekend. The lots were halfway full. Copper doesn't really get the brunt of poor snow early season since they handle it the best of any Ikon resorts between there large snowmaking system and easy at opening natural snow trails (very unlikely to happen this week). Winter Park, and A Basin are where you really see it. The busiest I have seen Copper are days when natural snow is only just becoming feasible to ski, and it becomes more under control when Mary Jane opens. I think it has to do with I-70's traffic too which makes it easier to get to resorts when others are unpopular. If Copper draws 1/2 the crowd Killington has year in and year out, I would be surprised.
Add in the low snow season thus far in CO, and your now asking for folks to go and just watch the race and not ski or ride and watch the race.
With the WC now not going to Banff in early December for the speed weeks for both the men and women, and Copper's ability to put on early season speed courses, who knows, maybe the USSSA and FIS will choose to put on tech events at Killington and a 2nd US Western speed event to go on along with the races at Beavercreek in future seasons
had similar experience on Center Chute- kick-booted up- near 55 degrees - got hard fast- traversed over to LG- probably saved my life. Still in bucket along with Dodges Drop. .The most terrified I've ever been on skis was being ten feet down Dodge's Drop and realizing I'd significantly underestimated how firm it was after ascending with crampons.
Looking uphill on a connector trail at Killington on a busy day is a close second.
But aside from the handful of days that are truly busy, that person-handling capacity and breadth of terrain offers can offer a pretty damn good skiing experience.
he should have just sprayed him and not stopped.Thats fucked up.
Karma will get that person one way or the other...
Not at all shocked that person was a boarder... probably taking dangerous side hits all day while listening to the most insufferable music in a backpack speaker.
What a loser
honestly that is a better option than just being a total asshat to the kid and then bragging about it on a Killington locals Facebook group.he should have just sprayed him and not stopped.
