Date(s) Skied: 1/13 - 1/15
Resort or Ski Area: Jay Peak
Conditions: Ice to Powder
Trip Report: Arrived at Jay Friday night with above freezing temps and a mist in the air. Got up at 7:00 am on Saturday with the temp at 32 and dropping quickly. The first run was ok but then whole mountain frooze over and everything turned to ice.
Sunday was not much better. They had made snow on Angles Wiggle & Montrealer which helped. The morning was hard packed powder which was scaped down to ice by the afternoon.
Monday it started snowing around 5:00 am and continued snowing. Got to the flyer at 9:00 and had first tracks down Goat with 4" of untracked powder. It snowed all day until about 2:00 pm when the snow turned to a light frozen rain. Every run was a powder run and ropes were dropping everywhere. Snow report said snow making had finished on JFK and moved to Green Mountain Boys but it was still going on JFK and the dropped they rope on Green Mountain. Runs skied, all powder runs, included Kitzbuehel, Derek Hot Shot, Green Mountain Boys, Upper & Lower Milk Run, Poma Line, Beaver Pond & Expo Glade. All were in great shape and after the icey weekend the crowds were minimal.
Monday turned into one of the best days after what started as one of the worst weekends ever.
