Europe, Canada, Western US. If it says double black or triangle it's probably for real
In the East some of the places where double diamond means something
Personal experience: Tucks, Loaf, Jay, Stowe, Some Killington
So I hear: MRG, Smuggs

Agree with The Rumer. I don't recall Veritge and Zig Zag being anything special. Dynamite is supposed to be, but it wasn't open when I was at Tremblant. Whiteface has two double blacks -- the Slides (very real, but also not normal in bounds terrain) and Cloudsplitter Glades (a nice glade, nothing remarkably hard compared to other glades, from what I remember the 1 time I skied it). Empire at Whiteface, while a single diamonds, could deserve mention.

I'd also add Paradise at MRG (single, but they have no doubles), the Face Chutes and Tuckerman's at Jay (same, and I haven't skied them as they've been closed when I'm there), and Rumble at Sugarbush.

Ripcord at Mt. Snow, at least when its looking like it did on MLK. Otherwise, no.

Rumble, Liftline and FIS @ Sugarbush...Slide Brook Basin

I don't think FIS really fits the bill, IMO. Black Diamond, yes. Longer sustained steeper pitch, skinnier, lift towers, rocks, etc. Granted, the Men's Tee on FIS is pretty steep, but it doesn't last long, and the trail is wide open. On a decent snow day, an intermediate skier could make it down FIS in one piece. I don't think the same can be said about Black Diamond.

Just my .02 on SB trails. The others you mention are spot on.

Black Diamond is no more harder than FIS. When it's open its on natural snow which is much softer and easier than the hard shit over on FIS. Pitch is the same....

The Plunge at Mount Snow too. A gladed Ripcood with anywhere between a 4 to 8 foot cliff at the end depending on the snowpack.

Definately NOTHING at Okemo :)

I've got to disagree with you there. Black Diamond is much narrower than FIS & the pitch seems steeper (it may not actually be but because the trail is narrow it seems steeper). Also you're skiing right under the chair & the steepness combined with the narrowness & the large natural bumps make Black Diamond definitely harder than FIS.

I like FIS, don't get me wrong, but it's so wide that if you run into trouble you can do long traverses to get down it. That's just not possible on Black Diamond.

IMHO Black Diamond is the toughest run at Mount Ellen.

Slide of Hans, Maybe.

Magic has seriously legit advanced terrain, but I think Slide of Hans is pretty overrated. There's one tricky narrow turn at the top, but the rest is just like any other moderately pitched natural run. I never understood the <><> rating on that one. I love the run, but it can't hold a candle to Redline (never skied Master Magician, but that sure looks more technical.)
