Warren and I spent the afternoon driving up to ski at Sugarloaf this week and we took this picture of Sugarloaf at 6:30pm this evening:

Nice shot

Loaf does get the title as most aesthetically pleasing ski area in the North East IMO. There's a reason it's called 'Oh My Gosh Corner'

that;s just incredible. wish Sugarloaf wasn;t 8 plus hours/462 miles from my door. they seem like the only game for even a hint of midwinter conditions in town and not enough people know about it. probably the same w/ sunday river.

what would be cool is if they could run a charter tour bus to pick you up from the airport in portland or bangor(i think?). Maybe they could attract more non locals and keep the season going.

wish i owned a Cessna!

seems like a bit much of a hassle for a weekend ski trip though. what we need is for Sugarloaf to host the Winter Olympics or something like that and get the travel infrastructure built up. 4 lane highways for all! just kidding.....

It looked -- and felt -- like a February day in Sunday River last Sunday. I agree on the bus to the Loaf. Jay does something similar from Montreal to attract the local crowd turned off by the drive.

Bring the fall-line carvers guys, the occasional wet-snow/rain the area received in the past couple weeks did thin down the cover, particularly on the trails...imo. Mornings are hard stuff...gradually softening up some for decent conditions for mid-April in New England.

On a scale of 1-10 I give the skiing at Sugarloaf today a 12, it's epic with incredible warmth, great corn snow and nearly 100% snow coverage.
