...with some idiots.

I watched the rescue yesterday. It was interesting :-? And to think I was considering a paddle yesterday on a pond or lake. Not after seeing these guys getting pulled out. They lasted 30 seconds before bailing and swimming to an island and being stranded for about 90 minutes.

Some real smart ones.

OK, so they are in a canoe and the current is faster than they anticipated. Uh, why not paddle to shore with the current? Jumping out and swimming in the difficult current in near freezing water was a better idea?

Just got this message from the Dean:

Some of you may have noted the front page story in Valley News, reporting on the rescue of two of our students caught in the White River yesterday.

At this time of year the River is extremely dangerous--cold, fast, and lots of hidden boulders just below the white water.

Please be on notice to stay out, whether fishing or canoeing, until the water warms up and settles down.

Were you the one who identified them?

HEH! I was looking at the river all the back from Burlington...ok...where you see the river ALONG 89.

Looked like it could have ben fun in a kayak. Didn't see any in the water though. Apparently lots of smart people (those opting NOT to give it a shot)...and two extra stoopit ones who opted to jump out of a perfectly good floatation device.

Re the lawyers: so who are they going to sue???

I'm sure they'll find someone. The kiddie pool manufacturer for not putting a warning on their product (Though they probably already say it's not to be used as a floatation device), the school for not building a fence, the city for not putting up a sign, the state for not making the city put up a sign or the school build a fence, the Corp of Engineers for not leveling the falls, Mother Nature for the same thing, Newton for discovering gravity, their parents for raising morons, Anheiser Busch for enabling morons, the guy who was smart enough to get out of the pool, the list goes on.

That pretty well sums it up, eh? ;)
