It hurts me too, I'm far from wealthy.

Look at how quickly folks interest sparked over the last six months due to 4 dollar gas. It is already fading as prices continue to drop.

Kind of.....it's gone from people concerned about how much their paying in gas and cutting back, to oh chit, I don't want to spend any money right now on major expenses until things stabilize with projected closures of 1/5th of the auto dealerships in this country next year. Of course countless other areas of financial stress exist as well.

Don't get me wrong I agree with you in that a recession can generate positive change for the future in a number of arenas as people are forced to become more practical and resourceful, but.....I'm not rooting for anything in life to be more expensive right now hence further crippling the economy during what is a very tough time for a lot of people.

Well no, I was a wee lad back then, so I don't remember much. But I do remember my parents taking me to see you. Remember, you had the hand drill back then, not too sharp and it kind of sucked when you started drilling and all the smoke started coming out of my mouth! Even worst was when you started yelling at my parents cause my you said my teeth were too hard and ruined your drill!

Ahh yes, the good old days! All these "painless" stuff we do now just takes way too long and the stuff we need to do things that way costs way too much ;) ;)

 Saw a movie once where that happened. Guy went to dentist, drill was dull and started smoking, dentist yelled at guy cause his teeth were too hard an ruined her drill. Laughed my ass off on that one.

I call that "cheap dentist syndrome" ;) Most of the drill bits that the majority of us use are 1 use disposable burs that cost somewhere in the $1 to $2 a piece range. That way, everything is not only sterile, but also sharp. And a sharp drill bit cuts much easier and smoother(or more appropriate a drill bit with sharp diamond grit on it - most of the drill bits we use have industrial diamond grit on them that acts as the cutting agent).

Pretty much nowadays, the only way that you'd see smoke from your tooth, is if the bottle of water that supplies the water spray from the drill is empty, and believe me when I say that we as dentists HATE that becuase ground tooth smoke smells like a$$

Now I just use the old school foot pedal belts that powered the old drills as the power source for the 64k Apple II that I use as my desk top computer at work ;)  ;)
