Ever dreamed of skiing or snowboarding in the summer? Now you can! Liberty University presents an attraction sure to revolutionize your winter sports action. Coming soon to Lynchburg, Va., the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center features the most innovative technology in the snow sports industry, SNOWFLEX®. Originating in Europe, Snowflex will debut on U.S. soil with the completion of the artificial incline. The Discovery Channel is documenting this historic event, filming portions of the construction to air on a future episode of “Daily Planet.”

Invented by Brian Thomas of Briton Engineering, Snowflex is a multi-layer, synthetic material that simulates the effects of snow, allowing maximum speed and edge control for making turns. With the help of small misting devices, Snowflex stays moist, giving it the slip and grip of real snow. Snowflex’s extra padding and support enhances the most extreme maneuvers and stunts, culminating in the ultimate adventure.

Although mountain ski resorts are only accessible during cold weather months, the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center will be available year-round, day and night.

While on LU’s campus, prospective students, current students, alumni and their families can spend quality time together, taking full advantage of everything the slope offers, including skiing, snowboarding and tubing.

Monster jumps, killer quarter pipes, slick rails and a high-speed tube chute are just some of the highlights of this snow-free ski slope. Thanks to Snowflex’s advanced technology, these features will never melt or change shape.

To learn about the history of Snowflex, its features, and LU’s new slope, check out our video and photo gallery. Our FAQ page and other downloadable materials provide more insight into the development and debut of the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Center.

Could be a fun way to get some turns in during the off season.

who care that stuff is terrible for your bases and edges. it heats them up and can melt of distort you base. that being said i have done it a few times when i was on the other side of the pond working. plus we are going to have xanadu less than 15 min away.

This looks fun to me. They should design a ski around the material instead of the material around the ski though. I would slide on that if it was close.

That's why Snowflex has a misting system!

a. It makes the slope slipper
b. It cools down the equipment and you dont burn it out like other stuff

Make sure you research your arguments in furure before you go sounding off. :dunce:

actually i know that but it still brings you base temp up way higher than that of snow. its the nature of the beast and dont tell it doesn't because the edge of the board is hot after everyrun. and nice way to make a first post troll.

I still think someone could make some minor changes to skis/boards so that they work better on this type of surface.
