Hey All,

I'm back from a rare midweek AM session at Blue mountain. I arrived at Blue around 8:25AM and it was 8 degrees in the lower lot with dense fog. The temperature was a mild 15 degrees at the upper entrance so mad inversion yo!! Toast was in the house and we began with two runs down Razors edge which was sa weet velvety madmade snow over fresh cord. They blew a couple feet of snow on Challenge and it was being groomed out by three snowcats. Dreamweaver and Switchback were nice but both had a slick spot or two. Barneys Bumps were a little scratchy as well but the groomed part of Main Street skied as well. Burma road was also a little chunky in the corners. The Sidewinder park had tons of fresh cord even an hour and a half after opening. Toast was having fun on the Booters and boxes. Paradise was really freaking smooth with pretty fast snow.

As the morning progressed, more people arrived and by 1030AM there was a mini-liftline..maybe 10-15 6-packs worth of people waiting. Toast left and then I spent the last hour skiing Paradise, Lazy Mile, and four runs on Razors Edge to finish out my session. Razors was even better at 11AM than first thing..once the cord got skied off, if was perfect smooth chalky snow...definitely easy carving hero snow. I ended up skiing 18 runs in total for 18,900 vertical feet which was just the perfect amount to ski this morning. My toes were a bit frozen when I left around 1120AM. When I left the temperature was up to 20 degrees under brilliant midwinter sunshine. It was awesome having off work today and taking advantage of some of the best non-powder conditions I've ever skied at Blue mountain the True mountain. I leave for Jackson hole in 4 days and most likely I'll be up for an afterwork session tomorrow and/or Thursday. As long as daytime high temperatures stay below freezing..it's going to stay nice for quite some time. If you haven't skied Blue yet this season..now is the time to Touch the Sky!!!

Thanks for the local news. Sounds like Blue has more pow than JHMR today! Never fear, I see that freshies are coming to the Tetons around 1/28.

Freshies are coming to the tetons earlier than that..and yeah..right now the snow at Blue is probably better than Jackson Hole..but the terrain at Blue isn't quite as good..

I gotta' get over there and ski that place. It's been awhile.

I was averaging 7 runs an hour off of the 6-pack..if I would have only skied Razors Edge, 8 runs an hour would have been possible. I usually use vacation days for ski trips so today was one of the few times I've skied Blue on a weekday non-holiday morning..
