Date(s) Skied: February 9, 2009

Resort or Ski Area: Cannon Mountain

Conditions: FRGR, LSGR, WBLN, FAST

Trip Report:

Last week I was lucky enough to ski Cannon Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Conditions were great on and off of the trail map. Due to the slight change in weather, trees, Hardscrabble and Mittersill were pretty much out of the question. Now I'm not complaining because if you wanted to produce some speed, surface conditions were ripe for that!

Paulie's Folly and Avalanche were great to bomb down! Gary's and Rocket were groomed perfectly for you to produce quick or wide sweeping turns. Higher on the mountain Upper Cannon took the cake with mostly LSGR surface conditions, and we lapped the trail over and over again hugging the inside corner as close as we could.

Vista Way had a lot of windblown POW on skier's left, couple of minefields but it was still fun. Taft and Skylight we pushed the speed again back down to the Cannonball Express. This and there were nobody else there! I think once I saw another soul on the trail.

What's funny is that the summit hovered around 5F and there was minimal wind. Great outing!

Sorry, forgot to tell what was funny! It was 5F, minimal wind but Loon couldn't open North Peak today and the gondola was on windhold until noontime!
