For retained snow, my personal award goes to Saddleback as they has at least 6' + in the woods when we where there two weeks ago and it snowed 3-5" yesterday morning while most of New England saw spring conditions. They should easily be able to ski well into April and as usual, run out or skiers before they run out of snow.

Sugarbush. Mountaineering Blazer Cam is standing up in this picture. There was about ten feet of snow in this area at mid-mountain. We got 3-5" today too, not claiming the most, but it sure is sweet. Just sayin'.

The problem is that we got thaws every time the surface got good. January was sustained cold but the whole northeast has seen big temperature cycling in February and March. There's plenty of snow pack. This should be a very good spring skiing year after the March storms do their thing.

I hope your right especially for Northern New England, but as of right now I'm not seeing it. The weather boards are calmer then the ski boards right now. The good news for me is that down here Camelback says they're gonna make snow on the 12th and 13th. They are still going for that April 5th close.

This was Castlerock Liftline today, March 13th, 2009. No snowmaking, east facing, totally covered, even better than last weekend.

It's going to be awesome tomorrow.

Yup - I was there Last Sunday still had excellent coverage in the woods but firm... There was some grass was poking up around the chair unload areas and behind the lift poles. Still all kinds of snow on trails in woods but a bit unusual for this time of year. Hoping for a March dump! Been quiet so far.

I agree the surface has been freeze thawed alot this winter, and january the snow was great but it was COLD.

The New York Times had an article I think yesterday (maybe today) about how eastern ski resorts are doing great this year despite the recession because of cheap gas, shorter vacations, and so much great snow. I read it and was like, this isn't news and its' rained a lot too but if you only interview resort managers they aren't going to tell you that.

It's good press though for eastern skiing.
