What's going on? Besides announcing the prices and the possibility of an extended season....

What else will be happening at K next year? This information may make a great deal of difference when deciding whether to buy a blackout pass, full pass or go with the express card.

Thanks.

I agree... any info would be great...

Will there be an express card again? Will the express card discounts be similar?

Any updated info on kids programs and kids program pricing?

I wouldn't expect a quick response on that one. As far as I know, the only places in the east that have even advertised prices for next season are Peaks, Boyne and Powdr.

I'm sure the market will drive the answers to your questions.

I view it kind of like Gathering of the Vibes early bird tickets. HUGE savings came and went months before the bands were even announced. Call it a cash infusion.

Additional benefits for Unlimited season pass holders include a 30-percent savings off Killington’s popular Max 5 Children’s Ski and Snowboard School Programs.

With a 30% discount off a $180.00 all day kid program lesson, Killington still has the second most expensive kid programs in the east at $126.00. What is the highest in the east? Pico at $130.

Okemo is $110 for an all day kid program with a bulk buy option that makes it much cheaper.

Sunday River is $70 for an all day kid program

Even uber-expensive Stratton's walkup price is $115/weekend and $129 during Xmas, MLK, and Presidents periods

<rant>
Killington really does need to be taken to the wood shed over this one.

I'm basically OK with everything else Killington is doing. The kid program pricing excludes an awful lot of people from considering Killington as their permanent vacation home location. Those people buy your season pass product. They eat your lousy base lodge food at premium prices. They bring in lots of day ticket business from their house guests. SP Land must be really pleased that you're doing your absolute best to further depress the local real estate market. You pay your instructors minimum wage so you have huge leeway to make this a competitively priced program that is better than your competition at the same price point. This is very bad for the sport, the town, and the ski industry. You are profiteering from all the future-thinking Preston Smith and that financial moron Les Otten did to grow the sport. Insanity.

We are currently working on capX plans for next season, which will include quite a bit of snowmaking work and thousands of small items around the resort. We do plan to use push our snowmaking system to the max next season!

Yes, the Express Card will be back with similar discounts. Still working on kids pricing for both Killington and Pico, which will be available prior to the April 30 pass deadline.

Sounds good... thanks for some info.

Do you know what part of the mountain will benefit most from the snowmaking upgrades?

Is that where you would like to see it??

Ouch! It would suck if they turned Royal Flush into another East Fall. You can already trivially make snow on the Needles liftline. I don't know why you'd want to. The advantage of Killington over places like Sunday River and Okemo is the natural snow terrain. I'd rather see them make snow on terrain that was designed to have snowmaking. Vertigo headwall and Vertigo near the Snowshed Xover. Fiddle. Leave everything else alone.

A Killington season pass includes Pico Mountain and is valid from early November through early May,

So....snowmaking improvements? Killington hasn't been able to provide reliable "Early November" skiing for at least 5 years now, and often they struggle with Mid-November.

This season they (barely) opened Nov. 2 (a sunday) and were only able to stay open a few days, reopening 3 weekends later.

Are some of these improvements going to help make an early opening more viable? It has become abundantly clear that the current K-1 opening strategy is too difficult to pull off. There are other options, which could tie in with this years improvements:

- Install an upper mountain chairlift or poma tow to allow up/downloading on the K-1 gondola, with skiing on the northridge triple. The new lift would allow skiers to return to the K-1 for downloading. A late october opening would be easy with this strategy, the elevation advantage is key for snowmaking.

- Install better snowmaking (fan guns) on the trails off Superstar, to blow more snow, quickly, for an opening on the Quad. Would make an early Novemember opening much more viable.

- Install a midstation on the K-1 Gondola, to allow loading at the Downdraft/Cascade intersection, and then downloading.

Personally, I think the fan guns on the superstar pod is the most viable and better all around option, but I like them all.

they used to but it's been a long time. i think it's fine as it is. i'd rather see them blow snow on the fiddle again.

Yea, keeps lower pipe dream fresh for poaching. Although those trips over the moon sometimes are FREAKY!
