Just Greg and I tonight. We met up a little after 6 on Scoville road and after a brief assessment of the weather situation decided to skip anything west of route 69. We headed right for the cemetery twisties which rolled pretty nice but before we made our way through the climb at the end we found ourselves in the middle of a pretty intense thundershower. Nothing life threatening mind you but enough weather to delay us a good 15 minutes, soak both of us to the bone and further grease up the trails.

Regardless, after the storm passed we pressed on up the fat kid climb and down the cornwall downhill across Cornwall Road and into ye old 69'er and out the remainder of the cemetery twisties and back to the cars.

I didn't see much of Greg during the ride, only at the start, finish and the very few breaks we took along the way. He is really flying on the new bike even more so today since he put the Kendas on it. WOW!

Anyway it was a great ride despite the poor weather and slippery conditions, none the less a chance to break out my new GPS unit, a Garmin Vista HCX. Here's the track from today....

Bummer about the rain. Sounds like you guys made the best of it.

Can't wait to get back out there!

Considering you were on the hardtail, you kept up pretty well.

I flew through the cemetery, certainly faster than I ever have. The hype over the Trek Remedy is deserved. The bike is simply amazing. Just point it and pedal your ass off. It really makes riding so much easier. A part of me thinks it's in part due to a better fitting bike, but really, the bike just gives me that much more confidence. Still dialing in the suspension, but the Nevegal upgrade was a major improvement. Now I just have lop off a 1/4-1/2" off each side of the bars and find a better seat, and I'll be set. I flew down the sketchy downhill off the top of the ridge. Can't wait to see how fast I can push this thing on better trail conditions.

The cemetery was good, but a few puddles, likely from today. Some really muddy sections up on the ridge too. Lamson corner is still not quite ready, and I'll probably return to Stone for the time-being. The 69er rode fine though. Another storm rolling through our area right now....

Good ride, Jon. Keep at it. Glad you've discovered the addiction. If I had the ability to ride most every day, I would. You'll be passing us all in no time! Thanks for the brew and chat afterward.

Glad to hear the storms rolled through quickly for you guys. The storms were the reason I passed on the ride after driving home from Boston though them, pretty bad at times.

I really do need to get out riding more since I usually have plenty of time and also need to get out for a ride with Woodcore to finally meet him. Post up when you are going to ride again.

So, I see and hear the 'hardtail' comments often...

Would I be wrong to say they are considered slower because the terrain 'holds them back' per say.. with the rougher bumps...??

Is there a glide factor with the FS that allows them to glide over larger roots/rocks/small children etc... easier.. making them "faster" per say ??

Ohh do tell! do tell! lol

It all depends on the rider. I have ridden with guys on fully rigid single speeds that have destroyed me on some really technical trails.
