I have a Braun coffee machine and unlike the Mr Coffees and such, it doesn't have the disposable paper filter, it uses metal mesh. It's been about 6 months now and the coffee is a bit funky, wondering if changing the filter might help?

Guess your right, it's starting to look as ragged as Marc's avatar, and starting to smell like, well never mind.

Get a Tassimo. Then you don't have to worry about coffee filters ever again. If you have the bucks, go a step higher for a Keurig.

Tried one of them, didn't like em. When we really need a quick good cup of coffee, I have a Nespresso, but we use that mainly for cappuccino and espresso.

I'm the only one who drinks coffee here and it's rarely so the Tassimo is great for me. Makes a better cup o' joe than I ever did. ;) Plus hot chocolate, espresso, tea... in less than a minute.

Soak the mesh in vinegar. It'll clean up. You may also want to run a diluted vinegar solution through the machine (followed by several clean water runs) to clean it out, if the coffee's getting funky.

Or go to your local Dunkin Donuts. The coffee will still be funky, but you won't have to worry about the filter. Hell, they don't.

I cut out of work early to play mini-golf so I actually worked the whole 5 hours I was there..lol..

I don't even have a coffeepot at my place..but I am within 1 mile of two dunkin Donuts, a mickey D's and a mini-mart where I get my Sugar Free Redbull..
