Could you board like this at 6 years old?

Years of therapy needed at some point for how mom + dad are pushing (but not trying to) their kid. I'm guessing dreams of "shaun white" success fill their heads.

I only dug in to find the video of the the young girl. Did the text say the parents were pushing her like Tiger Wood's dad did? That would be a shame. The video shows a humble girl who loves snowboarding and passes it off matter of factly that she's been at it for 3 years and just loves it. One would think that if a parent had dollar signs in their eyes they'd get the kid out on a board at 2 years old and by the time they were 8 they'd be in special schools like young tennis players often are.

guess I need to read the article. If the article doesn't suggest that, I can see where you have such a few Doc considering her talents being publicized in the NYT. Lots of exposure there

NYT article makes it sound like she loves riding, and her parents want to see her succeed. Not necessarily forcing her to practice when she doesn't want to and stuff like that, but giving her every advantage they can. Making their own backyard jib park (including manmade snow,) travel, working with Burton, etc. Not forcing her to to better, but seems like gentle pushing.

I didn't get the impression there was pushing in there either. Sounds like a kid that loves to board and a family willing to accomodate that. Having kids of my own that dismantled the swing set last winter to turn the yard into a terrain park, I get it. Would I get them out on youtube or such, probably not. But the kid sounds like a novelty. And the sport is not cheap. I hope her dreams come true.

Bingo! How many 6 year old athletes do you know that have their own self promotion website, sponsors and newspaper articles about them?? If Mom and Dad weren't involved, you'd just have a young kid off having fun and staying under the radar

found the video. Kid is good. (BTW in the video she's 8 not 6)

The grinds and spins she's doing are considerably easier on a board than on skis, but I'll still give her props. Lets look for her in the X games in a few years.
