I'm heading up to NH for the first time this weekend. Staying in Lincoln. We are planning on hitting both Loon and Cannon up while we are here. What should I check out / avoid, any must see locations? Both of us are pretty seasoned snowboarders, not really interested in the parks/pipes b.s. just lookin for some good freeriding and tree shots (not expecting you to post your stashes but hit me with a pm if you feel like helpin me out )

Checkout the Mittersill runs at Cannon.
You'll probably have to boot it over from Taft Slalom, but I understand there is a shuttle on the weekend to return you to base.

Black out days have been fairly mellow at the River this year, not sure if that has been the case at Loon. . Last year black out days were the quietest.

Both places are in great shape! Just got back from Cannon now, and we had a blast! Glades on the upper part of the mountain are good, Mittersill is good but could us some more POW. I did liberate a few rocks on Lakeview Glades.

Loon has pumped out a lot of snow, that and all of the natural snow it's looking pretty strong! Mike's Way as of yesterday still has good coverage, and Black Mtn. was holding up well.

If I were you, I'd ski Cannon Saturday and Sunday, and Loon on Monday. This area was really busy last weekend, and MLK weekend it will be a Z-O-O @ Loon.

I was at Loon last weekend and Saturday was super busy, but Sunday wasn't too bad. I would recommend going to the South Peak to avoid the crowds. They had Undercut(glades) open but not sure if it will be this weekend if there's no new snow falling. Pretty much to avoid the crowds just don't go to the gondola. The Kancamagus Quad was probably a 10 min wait max and the North Peak Express Quad doesn't get that backed up either.

If you must ski on a busy day, break up your group into the singles line, it's a much shorter wait.

The last day of a weekend/holiday is usually much lighter, with lots of people heading back early, which is why Monday would be the best bet.

Agree with the sentiment about Loon being crowded....it is. Check out Cannon and Mittersill. Mittersill is a must....

I'm hitting Waterville on Mon. Maybe you can show me a thing or two in the bumps. Seriously.

driving home on monday, no skiing.

I'll ski with anyone but i dont think i'm the right person to look towards for skiing tips.

That's the best way to do it for sure. Where are you staying?

My brother scored a house in Lincoln from someone he works with for the weekend. No one had it booked so we took it short notice. Cheap, Cheap. I'm not sure exactly where it is but he said it's 15 mins from loon and 25-30 from Cannon.
