Do moguls and mogul skiers ruin slopes for others? YES, in my opinion.

I'll use Ski Sundown as an example.

Last year when they seeded gunbarrel they left 1/2 the trail groomed. within hours that groom section became a sheet of ice because skiers and boarders were forced to skid or slide down the trail, it was too narrow for turning.

Same thing happened this year on Stinger. The ungroomed 1/2 of the trail became a sheet of ice because all the "normal" skier traffic was forced to one side and they had to skid/slide.

if these trails were not bumped this would never have happened. moguls and mogul skiers are ruining trials that the rest of us skiers and riders would normally enjoy.

The installation of moguls should be banned or at least controlled by a government agency to ensure fair use and safety for all.

So I guess then we should get rid of the terrain parks too! cause they ruin the whole trail not just half of it!!!:daffy:

Both black diamond rated trails which means "most difficult". Go ski Papoose.

You're right--trails with no bumps never turn into sheets of ice [SarcMark].

I know this is tongue-in-cheek, but yeah, the non-bumped side of Gunny was a mess last spring, especially the top (steepest) half. Was not my favorite thing to try to navigate through the ice or mud to keep up with you guys.

I thought during the S7 it was fine. Icy base but it sluffed right off. Corn harvest!

Show me a mountain that has more then 10-20% moguled terrain. As a bump skier I have civil rights too. As far as safety you know the old saying "If you can't stand the heat get out of the Kitchen". (we need a mogul icon)

You're a much better skier than I am.

Please don't think I'm busting on you because I'm not, but Gunny is the most difficult trail there and is rated as such. It's not supposed to be easy to ski.

Bump skiing is not as cool now as it used to be.....like it was in 1988 when people wore neon ski outfits and did daffys and spread eagles off the jumps. Try to get a 16 - 20 year old good skiier to tell you what they think is cool, it sure as hell isn't bump skiing, it's riding the park, rails, jumps and of course pow.
However, bump skiers need a place too, they are a portion of the market and a very dedicated portion at that. I snowboard now so I don't care for the bumps myself. Just post a sign on the top of the trail indicating moguls and if you don't like moguls then ski something else.

This doesn't seem to be a problem at the larger ski areas where they have plenty of room on the trails to suit different skiers needs. On the other hand, at the smaller areas where the trails are limited and they put in moguls or a terrain park it takes away a run that some of the public enjoyed in the past. I've heard complaints like this time and again from different skiers and pass holders especially. I guess its hard to please everyone!!

Sugarbush!!! Mad River Glenn more so than Sugarbush! Groomers are great on warm days! Bumps keep you warm on cold days, but the woods are even better!

Sounds like a job for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

A unique law enforcement agency in the United States Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products and seeded moguls at alpine ski areas. We partner with communities, industries, law enforcement, public safety agencies and the National Ski Patrol to safeguard the public we serve through information sharing, training, research, and use of technology.
