Hey Friends! I have truly enjoyed my first day on this forum. Thanx for making me feel welcome. Last year I was the unfortunate recepient of frost bite. It affected my toes on both feet. I have now had to battle dreaded ice toes all season long. I see warmers all over the place, and have heard the techology is now way better than ever. What do u guys think? Is there a particular brand I should be looking at? Can I really get away with my existing boots? (I have had them for years and I can ride all day with out popping) Is there a bootfitter or shop here in the Northeast (VT, or NY), I should become friendly with? Lemme know brothers and sisters!

I started this thread recently:http://forums.alpinezone.com/showthread.php?t=70856

I've pretty much gathered you can go with either and be fine. Go with whatever the local shop has or if you are handy you can get them online and do it yourself. Yes you can add them to your current boots. Do you have custom footbeds?

How about boot gloves? Does anyone use those? I saw a couple people with them this weekend when I was at Sunday River and I was wondering about their effectiveness.

I do not have custom beds. These boots are about 10 years old, they r my first ones ever. I don't have anyone I really trust to answer my boot questions. Where I live it seems they r just trying to get me to buy the most expensive thing, not the thing that would be best for me. How replaceable are the bootliners?

I LOVE my Bootgloves! they work so well. I am a person that WILL NOT stay home when its cold out. I love the snow when its extra frozen. The gloves fall short in really low(negative) temps. And when there is no sun.

Sounds like you are ready for new boots. I can't make any recommends for your area. You should look up in VT when you are at Jay.

I have a pair, I don't use them often because they are a pain to put on. Part of the reason I'm considering getting heaters myself. I guess the combo keeps you really toasty.

NICE! 15 years ridin the east and I have never been to either. They r on the list! Wich one do u like better?

Well there's not really any comparison. Wachusett is close to me so it's my night skiing/beer league mtn and a good place to take the kids. The Loaf is where I grew up skiing and it's a big hard-core mtn. Don't get there much anymore, but I still consider it home.

I use them on days below 20-- they do seem to help a good bit. How much, I don't really know, kind of tough to figure out. My feet get really cold without them, and only kind of cold with them. They let me keep skiing for extended periods of time even when it is well below 0, which I can generally not do without them.

Whats ur home mnt Wa-loaf? I get to Jiminy Peak a bunch, I dig thier night skiing

Jiminey is great( I am slightly biased.) Next time you are up at the mtn. stop in the ski shop there and see if they have any boot heaters in stock. I run the shop there, and am trying to order more heaters as I am currently out.

The install is not too bad, but when a shop sells them they usually install them for free.

I think I asked this before, but maybe not. Hotronics etc don't put off enough heat to mess with a custom molded liner like the ID Gold liner I have in my Kryptons?

Not 100% certain on the answer to that one. But when the heaters are being used, you should not actually feel the heat. If you can feel the heat then they are too high. So with that being said, i do not think that there would be enough heat to affect them.
