these last racers times seem sloth times, compared to what we saw earlier. Not that I could come anywhere close!

I read somewhere that the course has been softening under the sun leading to slower times for the later runners... also, these skiers are just not of the same caliber as the earlier ones.

The medals should be pretty much locked.

Vonn kicked some serious butt. I know there had been some rumblings about her injury talk just being some whining...or a pre-excuse if she didn't deliver. However, after watching that run...and how she was favoring her left leg...I think that went out the window. I mean, in the last few hundred feet, she was practically on one ski. She did great and it was awesome to see two Americans on the podium.

That course was brutal! I said to my wife: "This isn't live...we'll see most of the American's...and anyone outside of that will either be a potential threat...or crash hard." It was rough to see some of those crashed...that course looked hard as a rock.

After watching what coverage I could find of the Men's DH and then watching (now twice) the coverage of the women's DH, the women's course appeared to be much more technical than the mens course, and not just because of softer snow during the men's race. The women's course had many more jumps and almost no sustained gliding areas whereas the men's course appeared to be much more of a glider's track with a few jumps and a couple of mild Super G-esque turney sections. Still though Lindsey showed why she's THE BEST women's alpine racer now with a run that wasn't quite her best and still a dominating victory, and Julia Mancuso skied what was to this point, and likely will be for the remainder of her career, the downhill run of her life(probably in the big scheme of things better than her gold medal winning GS runs in Torino 4 years ago!)

Lindsey's post run reaction was really great to see too. Just the pure amount of emotion that poured out, from someone that usually (at least publically) is able to keep things relatively under control emotion wise, was great to see!

I wouldn't be suprised at all to see her take the super combined today too, with what has to seem like the weight of the world taken off her shoulders with that win yesterday.

The womens course almost seemed super g-ish...with a few semi terrain park like launches.

I agree...her reaction at the end was something. I do notice the women tend to be a bit more excited than the men. I think their reactions to winning/medaling are more fun to watch. I noticed that during the moguls too.

While I was thrilled to see Vonn's celebratory cry, I was at the same time hugely disappointed (but not surprised) that the equally stellar performance by Julia was given the short-shrift by NBC during the race coverage. Her time , as noted by WSJ journalist Futtereman was, "who claimed the silver... by an even more preposterous margin of 0.9 second." While Lindsey bawled tears of joy, they could have been showing Julia's elation. After all there was plenty of time for tape edits. Also short-changed was the fact that this was the best performance by ANY Americans in ANY downhill race. And I won't even begin to talk about all the other outstanding racers from other nations, worthy of watching by any competitor, who usually get ignored.

If you missed it, www.nbcolympics.com has now posted the videos of each racer who completed. I wished they had posted the vids of the DNFs too.

I thought the entire race was worth broadcasting, in the bib order. It was pretty dramatic, especially as we saw racers progressively crash and burn. The course was difficult and dangerous. I understand they are re-grading the last lip to address safety concerns for subsequent events.

NBC is in the drama and agony business. I wish they would sell the rights to events that they don't care to show in their entirety to someone else for syndication. It would have been so cool to go somewhere (a bar, a theater, cripes, I'd pay) to see it play out live.
