My daughter is doing a paper on the History of women in skiing. Other then the relatively new stuff on olympic, world cup, free style, etc. competitions she is having trouble find anything. Does anyone know of any good sources for this?

US womans ski team - San Moritz 1947 or 48. Andrea Mead Lawrence

The New England Ski Meuseum at Cannon sells many books on the history of skiing. Get the titles from their website and go to the library.
Very interesting place if anyone gets a chance to visit.

Women had been skiing in the Alps long before WWII.

I'm not entirely sure what's the best source of those history. But I'm guessing you might be able to find something on the British women skiing...

Dot Nebel designed the original trails of Belleayre's upper mountain in the 1940s. She is in the Hall of Fame there and has a trail named for her. She also was a member of the Olympic team, which never got to compete due to WW2.

a good resource would be NE Ski Museum - I bet a call would yield a wealth of information.

two ladies

1) prior owner of MRG - maybe contacting Eric Friedman - Mkting Director - seems like a very nice person.
2) the NYTimes had nice obit of Ms. Lawrence which can be found doing a search here...I posted it.
