Go Hunter! Their snowmaking system is so POWERFUL, Gigantic air and Huge capacity water pumps... Even only making snow at nights... they could open and draw decent crowds as they are closer to the metropolitian areas!!!

Temps look cold enough for overnight snowmaking, but it looks like there's a chance of rain at the end of the week.

Putting them out and turning them on are 2 differant things.

I have heard that they are planning on not opening until Thanksgiving weekend. But you never know with them.

It was snowing Sunday there.

@ Catskillman, someone reported in a different thread that they're aiming for the week before Thanksgiving.

We shall see. They only need a pretty short window to open anyway, I'm guessing they're probably going to wait until a little closer to the planned opening.

They usually open the weekend before Thanksgiving if they have the weather. The person who told me is an employee though.

It seems like they would not set up the portable guns this early if they were not going to open for 4 weeks.

Hope for the best.............

Sundown has a lot of, if not all of, their portable guns out on the hill. The earliest date that they shoot for is the weekend of Thanksgiving. It's usually not until early December though.

Not trying to be a downer, but I wouldn't assume the presence of guns on the hill means that they necessarily plan on turning them on in the near future.

Let's hope they fire them off any day now though. I look forward to the pictures of the Hunter snowmaking cloud every season! 8)

I wouldn't expect anything till Thanksgiving!

Well you know the old Hunter mantra... We'll start snowmaking when we know we'll have a stretch of cold long enough to keep it down for the season... :)

So - why not? If it's going to stay cold - then I bet they do it...

The seasons when that strategy actually works are when we get all of the West Side (well, not counting Lower Taylor's) and the Highlands open.

For me the season really doesn't start until Clairs is open... :)

Lets get this thing going!

Talking to 2 guys from marketing today. They said they are shooting for the 20th

Which means they can start making snow, oh....I'd say around lunchtime on the 18th.

If that's the case and we don't have 60F+ weather between now and then, I'd think we should see a great opening day.
