Date(s) Skied: 12/19

Resort or Ski Area: Mt. Snow

Conditions: Man-Made Packed Powder, Overgroomed Flat

Trip Report:

Go to Mt Snow around 9:00am and got into Lot B. It was unusually uncrowded. It was also unusually sunny and pretty warm, with almost no wind. They must have gotten a few inches recently, because I could see it where the groomers missed. Though, the groomers did pretty much ensure that no one would be permitted on any natural surface.

- Did a few runs on the intermediate bump run, on the front side - RollerCoaster. Seeded bumps, worth skiing, but nothing special.
- Moved to the North Face and was pleasantly surprised with great snow
- They were blowing on PDF, Jaws, and Plummet, which should open soon (tomorrow?) and will certainly be very good.
- Fallen Timbers was excellent - bumped up with freshly made snow, top to bottom MOGULS !
- Heard that Bear Trap was freshly blown with big whales and sunshine. We didn't head over there, at least before I left (I left early).

Couple of pic's ..... (that's MadRiverJack - FYI)

Great pics! Solid weekend up there. The terrain parks skied well too. The features have a good rythym to them. Cliff drop is open as well. Awesome whales and bumps on Mineshaft today.

The lack of wind and temps in the 20's made for a good change. It was a bit busier this aternoon. My wife and I figured a lot ofcollege kids were home for break.

Surface was scratchy in spots, but the snow skied fast. The weather was just perfect.

Was there

Great Day at Snow! Got out at 8:05. Right to TNF. Skied a perfectly manicured Free Fall. Scooted over to Fallen Timbers. Run of the day. Top to bottom mayhem which beat me up. Did that three times then went to Bear Trap. Snowguns burying it! Bumps getting skied in. Did five laps then went to check out the seeded bumps on rollercoaster. Not what I expected, it is definitely not top to bottom. Some sections of way to big bumps here and there. Quick lunch at 11:00. Back out at 11:30 for three runs on Fallen Timbers. Went over to do a few more on Bear Trap as the guns were off. Nice bumps starting to be skied in. Went back to TNF for five or six more FT runs. Had to quit at 3:15 before I broke something (most likely me).
Notes: No music (no speakers) on Bear Trap
Plummet was getting a lot of snowmaking love.
Nice base on the natty trails. A little 12-16 storm and we’re money!
For you Connecticut Ski Council members you can use any ticket window on Awareness days.
Don’t have to deal with the Sundance Lodge. And if you didn’t know CSC members get group rate always. Have to use the Sundance Lodge for that. Skied for $32.00 today! Got my monies worth………………………
Pics: Fallen Timbers, Bear Trap Blizzard, Rollercoaster, FT, Groomed Free Fall
I got a few more I’ll try to post later. Off to the Hot Tub!

Wow. Is Mount Snow coming around and starting to get it again? Looks awesome. Would love to have a decent bump option not too far away.

Compared to 5 years ago, moguls have made a bit of a comeback.

Greg > I think they definitely have gotten it. We have repeatedly asked for bumps and they have delivered. It began two springs ago with them seeding Ego and Lower Ex. Last year they seeded Rollercoaster, left at least three snowmaking North Face trails to bump up + Beartrap. To me that's pretty good.

My apologies on my top to bottom bump report on Rollercoaster. Those looks terrible. Hopefully some more traffic gets them better.

Beast-Ed - just snowmaking on Plummet, PDF nor Jaws have snowmaking.

Thanks for the reports guys!

Was there Sat. and Sun. Sat we spent the whole day demo-ing. Didn't find anything I loved, and we kept mostly to groomers on the main face in order to a) wind up back at the demo tents and b) put the carving skis I was demo-ing through their paces. Also, demoing with a group of 6 people isn't easy.

Sunday (today), I only made 4 runs, didn't get out until 2 bc of excessive partying. I think that will be my last Four Loko ever. Nasty, and my stomach was a wreck today. I was the only one of the group that even skied today, so I'm giving myself a star for effort.

They've been really good with the bumps starting last year. The fact that they started them this early is a good sign. The nice thing about Rollercoaster is they plan on leaving a groomed strip on either side. My wife isn't into bumps, but she can at least ski down the same trail with me.

The bumps were awesome in the spring. Beetlenut and I had a heckofa run down Rollercoaster last year on Good Friday.

Knee wasn't too bad overall. My fitness overall, wasn't great. But I did well considering 6 months ago I was under the knife for the 6th time.

ACL?

Nice job getting back out there 6 months post op.
