Out in SLC for six days...Today was the first day and it was certainly a good one...The mountain reported 15" overnight which I would say is fairly accurate for Mid-mtn. There was probably about 2 ft at the top of 9990 and about ten inches at the base. Started the day on the Saddleback Express and skied The Pines...This is an awesome, open tree run. I then skied to the base of Tombstone and skied Paradise Bowl. This was an epic run with quite a few faceshots. After, I headed over to the new Iron Mountain lift. I was somewhat underwhelmed by the terrain off this lift as it has one longggg runout. I then poked around in the trees off Dreamscape and Dreamcatcher. Many untracked pockets still to be found in there. Afterwards, I ate lunch at the Cloud Nine Lodge, I had Chicken Pot Pie (Highly recommended). After lunch, I skied the Red Pine Chutes off of 9990. This is where I encountered the deepest snow on the mountain although it may not have been the best run I took. I finished up the day by skiing off of the Condor and Sun Peak lifts. It was here when I found the run "Sticks and Stones," it was absolutely awesome with untracked powder the whole way down. I finished the day around 2 pm. Tomorrow I will most likely ski one of the Cottonwood Canyon resorts...

Thanks for the report...think I will be heading there on Wednesday if my legs hold out.

DV was nice today...I didn't get untracked but the powder I did find was nice (knee deep) and the powder moguls were interesting.

Did you ski any off of the Mayflower lift? If so, how was it?

We didn't get over that way...the closest that we got was Tycoon to the Sultan Express.

I was just checking on the trail map for The Canyons and I don't see that many green or blue trails. As an intermediate should I be concerned about getting in over my head?

It depends what type of intermediate you are...If you enjoy challenging yourself on Ungroomed terrain that is not incredibly steep than you would probably enjoy The Canyons. However, if you are the type of skier that enjoys long cruisers than The Canyons may not be the best place for you although there are some nice ones off of the Super Condor Chair. Given the fact that you are in Park City I assume, I would definitely give it a try!

Been a while since we've been there but I recall lots of blue terrain at The Canyons. Very little green but lots of blues. The exception is probably 9990. It's really spread out horizontally and takes a while to figure out how to get from one area to another.

We decided to go to DV for a second day...nothing against the Canyons but I'm concerned that we would spend a lot of the day being lost. Maybe on the next trip I'll plan for a few days there.
