For those that can't end the season, Squaw will be offering another weekend of skiing over the 4th of July Holiday. The release I got last night said that they will be running several lifts from Gold Coast/High Camp. With 800 inches of snow, it is amazing to believe that they still have that much snow to go! :spin:

Now I wonder if Snowbird will extend its season?

Snowbird had already announced July 4th about a week ago.

Another 15" at the Bird... I believe Mammoth announced 4th of July lift spinning as well. I need to move out west.

just July 4th weekend? or will they be spinning lifts all weekends until then?

Snowbird is shooting for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for the rest of the season as far as I can tell. They are shooting to be open Monday, July 4th as well.

Talked to some friends who were out there over this past Memorial Day weekend. They claimed mid-winter powder conditions in the mornings and spring sunshine skiing in the afternoons. They also said the base was as deep as they've ever seen it for this time of year. Wall to wall and top to bottom. Pretty sick for June 1st.

Tempting for sure.......

What about A-basin?

They have comitted everyday operations until 6/5 then 6/10-12 and 6/17-19 They will evaluate on the last weekend about the 4th. I think they will, but they don't want to jinx it, because that happened one other time to them.

Nice!
The people at the top were waiting with snow balls for the last chair to pelt them(us). I was on a chair about 7 or so from the last chair and got hit by a few, which was kinda awesome in perspective. They had some fireworks to set off and a big party at the top which lasted about 1/2 hr then we all skied down for one last run of the official 2011 season.
Squaw is honoring 2012 passes but not 2011 passes for the opening on Independence Day Weekend.

Here are a few more from Squaw that day........Are ya tempted?
I did make an offer to come for a visit. :)

FWIW, Alpine Meadows didn't open for Memorial day weekend but announced(several weeks ago) that they'd be open for Independence Day weekend.

Since I have a Squaw pass, for 2012, I'll probably ski Squaw, but AM is awful tempting!

And Yeah, I hear that Abasin is trying to stay open weekends until Independence day this year. With the traffic they have and the snow, I am guessing that they'll do it.

That's a bizarre picture of the top of KT as it's reversed. (Unless that's Snowbird) I wonder how whoever took the picture did that. The lip above the bowl where the skier are stand is actually on the other side of the lift when you near the terminal. Cool nonetheless.

That's my picture, which is not reversed. Why would you think that?

Here is another view once we got off at the top of the chair.
