I even subscribe to AARP, though I'm not R yet, and I agree that list makes no sense. Although Killington and Loon might be on it because R people can ski midweek. For normal retired people (notice I don't say old), I think thrift will be a big factor, thus I'd only go to areas with a big midweek discount.

How about Black Mtn's Breakfast Club for 55+? Breakfast Club. 55 and up ski all day for $20.00 and includes breakfast. Seems like a good deal for those retired!

I've never seen one of these top 10 lists, without someone saying that the list made no sense. It seems to be an invariable rule of such lists.

Well, the opinion seems to be near-unanimous here. That's not unusual either. Thought I'd speak on behalf of ARPs.

No Deer Valley? Park City is listed I guess that covers DV.

I was wondering the same...

Regarding getting old, I just have to keep telling my kids that I was too young to have memories of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Woodstock, or Watergate. Do the math please...

No AARP mailings yet.

Yeah, I saw that one too. That's what happens when an article on skiing is written by someone who has never skied a day in his/her life I suppose. lol.

The guy they quoted, Tom Horrocks, is actually a very good skier. I know he took alot of flak while he was the PR guy at killington but he certainly could ski.

I'm not retired but I'll take any cheap deal

Tues and Thurs at Burke $30. Includes coffee.
Ragged, Thurs seniors for $34

If I get to Burke early enough I may take them up on it 8)

Billski,

I think you need to develop a "Skiing on the cheap - Senior Edition". Some ski areas provide good senior discounts starting at a fairly young age (60 or 65). Others, have no senior discount at all, or want you to be 80 years old.

Truthfully, I'm locked and loaded with all the vouchers, passes and stuff I need for the year save for a couple. It's time to start skiing. I'll have a two-plank mind right now. Besides, I only do the cheap things that interest me. I'm not there yet. Maybe you? ;)

Not there yet, but getting close (58 ). There are some interesting deals out there for old geezers. There's this:

The age cutoff is only 62 and I believe the preseason price is $199. That's a lot of bang for the elderly buck.

I'm 43 and spent too much time in my teens and 20's chasing friends down double-blacks, bumps, and into the woods when I really had no business being there.

About ten years ago I wised up and began to embrace what I really like--long, fast cruisers.

Give me Bretton Woods or Sunapee--where I can often take non-stop top-to-bottom runs on weekdays without encountering any other skiing traffic--any day!
